I expect both of them to return.

I do too, I haven't seen anything to indicate that they're ready to quit.

I agree with this. I'd shocked if either player retires. I honestly think that next year Garnett and Pierce will get a little worse and one or both will spend a lot of time injured.

I predict:

1. improved versions of Bradley, Rondo, Green, and Sullinger

2. worse versions of Jet, Pierce, and KG

3. the same Bass and Wilcox

4. Melo will get a lot of preseason and possibly early run. Then he will be traded or released.

5. we will draft a project player. Possibly of the stash-in-Europe variety.

6. We will pick up yet another terrible veteran big in the Ryan Hollins/Darko Milicic mold. Maybe Biedrins or Turiaf. ugh

7. There will be a franchise-changing midseason trade.

KG retires
PP is either brought back as possible 6th man of year candidate or he is traded to team with a chance to win
Rajon & Sully are back at 100%
we put out a good team; rondo, bradley, green, sully and very good free agent big
shav stays with team and develops nicely
bass & terry traded, Lee stays, crawford maybe

I think so much of it will hang on what happens in the playoffs. If the Celtics make it out of the first round and KG and PP don't get injured between now and the offseason I think they both come back with the mindset that with Rondo, Sully and whatever minor additions we can make we can be an ECF team and from there you never know what can happen. If we are competitive we make one last run to the playoffs and hope. If not its a farewell tour for KG and PP until the trade deadline where Danny has a fire-sale. .

If we get bounced early (swept by the Knicks or Knicks in a dominant 5 game series) KG might hang it up (although I don't have anything factual to support this, just a thought). Pierce comes back and we struggle mightily throughout the year leading to us being extremely active at the deadline moving some combination of Pierce, Terry, Rondo and Green.

this team needs some continuity - second year together helps that. the return of Danny-Trade-O-Matic since '08 has not been good overall.

rondo has to change his game to fit this group's new personality - meaning constant ball movement, anyone brings it up off a rebound, and more basic, fundamental, hard-work defense.

green has to be more consistent - as in double figures and high shooting % most nites + more rebounding & toughness.

not sure why everyone wants rid of Pierce and Garnett - they are still our best players, night in & night out and this is still their team (until they retire).

Danny and Doc have to do something about the rebounding !!!!! this automatic surrender of rebounds is just ridiculous to me - who has ever won a title playing that way. half of Boston's 17 flags can be attributed directly to great playoff rebounding (the 60's with Russ dominating, 74 & 76 with Cowens and Silas hammering teams into dust on the glass, 1984 title was ALL ABOUT offensive rebounding, 2008 finals was won by an elite defense and very aggressive offensive rebounding (KG, Perk, Powe, Posey, Pierce, Rondo, PJ, Baby) people forget how, even that group got bogged down badly on offense at times.

make a run next year with a group more familiar with each other - then put 34 & 5 in the rafters along with #18 and rebuild after that.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce
