They always say that the competition is harder in the West so do you think the C's would make it to the playoffs this year if they were in that conference? Do you think they would've made as many previous post season appearances?

Yes.
Yes.
Yes.

Winning the Finals in 2008, we did beat the best playoff team in the West, who beat the playoff teams that could beat other playoff teams, as well as other playoff teams who could other playoff teams, all of whom edged out teams that didn't make the playoffs. So, yeah, we would've won in 2008.

This year? Honestly no, I don't think so...they might've been fighting with LA/Utah for the 8th seed though, so maybe.

I think the C's were destined to win in 2008, it seems like everything fell into place.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
What are the circumstances???

Are we starting back in the beginning of the season? Is Rondo okay? Chemistry? T-Will, Crawford, and Shav on the team?

I like Marcus Smart

The circumstances as it is right now (everything with the team) except they're out West instead of being in the East.

Four East teams have a winning record vs. the West.

Eleven West teams have a winning record vs. the East.

The West is 258-186 vs the East this year, winning 58% of its games.

If you take the Celtics' winning percentages against the East (54%) and West (46%) but have them play 30 against the East and 46 against the West instead of the other way around, their projected record at this point is 37-39, which based on current standings would have them tied for 10th in the West with Dallas.

Hollinger currently projects Dallas and its 37-39 record as having a 1.6% chance of making the playoffs.

In short: I'm not optimistic.

Maybe their record would be better if they'd chosen not to rest Pierce and KG as much, but it would still be more difficult to compete in that conference.
