It's my own personal belief that when Benjamin Gordon was a boy in England, his father told him, "Son, your goal in life is to torment the Boston Celtics."  Young Benjamin replied, "But father, who are the Celtics?  You mean Celtic FC?"  "Shut up, son," Mr. Gordon said, and walked away.  The rest is history.

But that's just me.
Ben Gordon has averaged 12.6 PPG on 39% shooting in 26.7 MPG against the C's, in the regular season.

He scored 24 PPG the one playoff series though for a .536 TS%. Of course Ray Allen did even more damage against his "defense" too.

Maybe I'm just remembering all the killer shots he hit in that series, or just in general the fact that I think he only tries against us.  Whatever, I hate him.
Its because you're human and remember the games where he upset you and hit a big shot.

You don't remember that 18 out of the 31 regular season games he's scored 12 or less points against the C's. Because why would you remember meh games like that.

Judging by the game log, he doesn't try plenty against the C's over the years.

i dont know u very well, but let me know if this is the type of guy u r.

BOB: Hey Jeff, tell us one of those HI-larious jokes!
JEFF: Okay here's one I just made up last week. There was a dog that walked into a bar and said-
FAFNIR: UM EXCUSE ME! Dogs can't talk, so you can stop the joke right there.

lol no disrespect but sheesh.

You pegged him on that one. Faf doesn't tolerate talking dogs and sees very little humor in the subject.

Talking chimpanzees, on the other hand...

Seriously, though, it's fairly silly to have a thread about players who people remember playing well against the Celts for a game or two and think they play that well every time. But even if that's the case you can't really stop people from pointing out the reality of the situation.

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

LOL.  whether it is statistically proven or not, there are definitely opponents that are thorns in our side.  That thorn can be a variety of things.....high point averages, kill us on the boards, hit clutch shots, etc.

its a good thread idea imo
