wouldn't the better NBA conspiracy for LA to miss the playoffs and then win the lottery

They don't get their lottery pick.  Who it goes to (Phoenix or Cleveland) depends on which lottery pick they would get but if it were that high (the number one) I believe the Suns would get it.

The Suns have their pick (if it falls in the lottery).  So not this year at least.

And for all the griping about "lottery rigging" in the past, it would pale before the utter poopstorm that would break out if the Lakers won the lottery with a <1% chance.

Poopstorm? If the Lakers won the lottery only to lose the pick to the Suns I'd throw a party and then a funeral for the poor SOB who the Suns draft.....

I have zero faith in Sarver.

I meant if the Lakers had rights to the pick and they won with such low odds.

Although this is about the worst possible year to have the #1 pick since the 2000 draft.  Total crapshoot.

If you want to make an argument people will take seriously, don't include conspiracy in the title of the video.

They're in the 9 spot right now anyway, and even if they do make the playoffs they're an easy first round exit against SA or OKC. So what difference does it make?

I copied the video title.

I wasn't directing it at you which is why I said the title of the video. I just think people tend to overdo it with conspiracy these days, using that word instantly reduces your credibility.

Seemed pretty accurate to me.

It's not even <1% chance though, it's exactly 0%. If it's a lottery pick , it goes to the Suns. Guaranteed. If it's not a lottery pick, it goes to the Cavs. Guaranteed. They won't get a 1st round pick no matter what.

This type of video is completely unsurprising, but I like that it's getting around and spreading the word about how ridiculous the preferential treatment is.

It undermines everything about the league.

I think the Cavs just have the right to swap picks (and the Cavs can do so using Miami's pick), but even if they swap I think the new pick will still end up in Phoenix.  So it appears Phoenix will probably get the last pick in the draft from the Lakers.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Yes, if the Lakers make the playoffs then the Suns will get Miami's pick, if they are in the lottery it goes straight to the Suns.

I had read about this earlier in the season, and thought to myself "what a nightmare for Suns' fans".  If the Lakers miss the playoffs, the Suns get a lottery pick.  If the Lakers make the playoffs, the Suns get the 30th pick.  And of top of it all, the Lakers are the NBA's "Golden Child".  Ouch.
