My first post since finally joining tha forums last week. But I want everyone's opinion on this because I feel that given tha position this team is in, they should be giving nothing less than 100% every time they step on tha court. This team has 3 vets and one of tha most well respected coaches in tha league. And with players like Pierce, KG, Jet and a coach like Doc, Where is tha leadership in this team? Or is there none?

Does leadership lie within tha players? I look at players like CP3 and how he turned tha Clippers around with his leadership. Then I look at how Roy Hibbert went off last night and said he was gonna get in his teammates rear end in practice about tha way they played against tha Hawks even though they won. Or does leadership lie within tha coaches? You can make a case for that too because I look at how George Karl, Pop, And Thibs get tha most from their teams and are contending in their conferences. Tha Nuggets have no superstars, tha Spurs have old players, and tha Bulls are without their best player.

But what about tha Celtics? Where does tha leadership lie within them, where should it come from, or is there any? Give me your opinions.

I feel two ways about this

I feel like Doc and PP are trying to be leaders of course...but it just seems like (to me at least) they don't practice what they preach. And I think he's kind of lost some of the people. Who said something to Jeff Green before half time? Who said something to Crawford?

But then you notice how the team eventually goes away from this?

And then I feel like Doc kind of may leave them on an island. Figure it out yourself. Ho hum...it's a make miss league.

So..idk!

But everyone needs to dig down deep and figure this mess out!

Paul Pierce has been the number one leader on this team for years, and still is ... he has been mentoring the younger guys, (primarily Rondo, before his injury), in anticipation of his retirement, but until that happens Paul will remain in the top leadership role, and KG alongside him.

For most people watching this team closely enough over the years and at present, there should be no question about that. The ultimate word on it? Ask the team ... they will say the same thing, along with the coaching staff.

i already noticed and saw a no kg and no pierce situation here, green can't saved us, specially bass lee bradley and the rest of the guys, a rondo and sully came from injuries, i don't think they are enough to help us next year, having a guy like pierce kobe kg duncan novitzki ginobili parker carter fisher hill is a good way for rookies and some 2years nba player typed, and sully and melo should be very lucky also joseph, because once in there life, they played beside the greatest hall of famers of all time, kg and pierce, kg can mentor sully and melo and those upcoming next PF and C big man, pierce can revive t-will's career by motivating him that he still got it, also green knows that when pierce needs a rest or pierce is down and unlucky for his game, green has to step up, if danny draft someone like olynx gobert kadji len or someone, kg must be still here to mentor them, i know kg still got it, and if rondo was here next year, he needs to adjust, and sully for rebounds somehow pf problem is fixed

Leaders lead, but it helps to have solid followers.   One would be stretched to say we have solid followers right now.

Thats where we really miss Perkins these days. I would have to say Bradley  has got to make that jump over the offseason to go alongside Rondo.

Where was all this leadership before kg?

nowhere to be found, if anything he was a bad example at that time to younger players, even Antoine walker lead ahead of Paul when he was here.

He's not a leader and has never been. Kg is. Not sure where you get that he mentored rondo either, that was kg, doc and even ray early on over Paul...sorry

I think Paul has matured nicely as a leader since the shaky days during his prime. KG & Doc have both been very good for him in this respect.

Don't disagree with this....just proves my point he needs real leaders leading him to be a good example.

I agree that pre-Big-3, PP wasn't the type of leader the Cs wanted. He wasn't MJ and was/will never be. There are few players who are/ever were/will be.

Before being brought together on the Cs, PP, KG, and Ray all played on mostly bad (non-contending) teams. Each one's leadership was questioned. However together on the Cs, PP, KG, & Ray formed a perfect group leadership. Each one lead in his own way.

Today? Ray's in Miami. KG is almost 37 & hobbled. PP is 35 and can't bring it every night like he use to. The new leadership, aka Rondo, is out for the year. None of the other players on the team are currently ready to lead or just can't lead.

There is a HUGE leadership void right now. This is not unexpected given that the original leadership group was broken when Ray left and his replacement tore his ACL.

Then you do disagree with what I said, because I clearly stated that I believe Paul has grown into a leader. KG & Doc helped him develop, its not like not having KG on the floor suddenly has Paul regress to his early days under Doc chaffing at simple coaching.

Too bad he turned into a total liability in games.
