What you are leaving out is Robinson's 2" more of reach, 4.5" more in max vertical and his superior athleticism, quickness and strength that all showed up in pre draft measurements. You also left out that Robinson didn't have possible back problems that could manifest itself.

I didn't leave any of that out - when you calculate Max Vertical Reach, you are basically adding how high you can reach (which accounts for arm length) and how high you can  jump with out a step (which is typically how you rebound).

The two players both get to the same height.  I'll take the fat guy every time in that fight.

Apparently, Sully didn't gain much athleticism despite losing a lot of weight. Only decreased his power advantage in the post. Something we'll have to wait to find out more about in the next few seasons.

No expert here but weight doesn't equal strength right? Plus if he shed the fat and put on muscle instead would he not be even stronger?

Well, there is strength, and then there is leverage.  Having the extra weight does help him with leverage in the post, to be able to hold his position.

As for increasing his athleticism, I think its too early to know about that.  Its not just about shedding weight (and clearly Sully still had a good amount of weight to shed after last season...he was still very heavy in summerleague), but working with trainers to build that quickness and athleticism in a way that works best for basketball players.

I know nothing about Ohio State's trainers, but I would still wager that the C's trainers are a little better.

Give him some more time with Brian Doo and company, and we will see how his quickness improves.

Sully has pretty similar college stats and physical measurements of Kevin Love.  I'd also say they are in the similar mold of athlete.  Now that doesn't mean much, but if you are looking for the type of player Sully could be that would be Love.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Yeah, I think Love is the current player that Sully should be trying to emulate.  Although hopefully with a little better defense.

I think that is what the C's see as well (and why they had him shooting 3's in summer league).

I am not sure he is quite as talented as Love, but he does have a similar skillset, with his combination of touch, footwork, passing ability, and understanding of the game.

Another guy that I heard thrown around during the draft is Luis Scola.  Definitely not athletic, but he just knows how to use his size and skills to get the job done.

Yeah, Scola is the guy I would compare him to. Great rebounding instincts, lack of athleticism, great motor, intelligent player. If he turns into as good of a rebounder as Scola I would be very please.

BTW, Scola is a good to okay rebounder, but not great. That's kind of what I expect from Sullinger.

I like that in this thread people compare Sully to Kevin Love, and in another thread people are trading Sully, Bradley, Melo and draft picks for DeMarcus Cousins, while being told by other posts that this isn't enough for DMC.
