I fully agree, we are better off with Terry, Lee, and Bradley instead of Ray. It's just too bad that Ray went to miami of all places.

I don't mind him slowing down the Heat and ruining their defense at all

I think his comment is more "The Celts are better with Lee and Terry in place of Ray", rather than "The Celts are better without Ray".  It's probably semantics, but it's not a direct shot at Ray.

(As a rookie, though, he should probably learn to say "no comment".)

  • GOT IT!!!
Wow solid basketball discussion on that show, who would have thought? Young Austin is wise beyond his years. He's got a future in coaching or as an analyst after his career is over.

I had to agree with everything that was said. Miami got better but do did the C's. I cannot wait until that first game.

I think you should watch video. The context of his comment is important. ESPN manufacturing controversy with that headline.

And why do athletes go on that stinking show? They lend it legitimacy by appearing on it.

And here's Rivers on the Celtics' chances of beating the Heat in the East:

Quote
"I think if there's one team in the East that can beat the Miami Heat I think it's the Boston Celtics. I think it's due to the players they have, the leadership my father has, how he motivates them. ... They're the only team that can do it."

And then there's Stephen A. Smith's response:
Quote
"I don't believe they're beating Miami".

I can understand why he would say that especially when you're(Stephen Smith)hosting charity events for Wade during the month of August. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't unethical for a noted sports journalist to be having personal dealing with athletes, because it shows a sign of favoritism. First off later Smith, because it's harder to repeat a championship. Smith doesn't know what he's talking about, because he's a noted fan-boy of the Miami Heat. Smith is star struck and obsessed with Lebron James, that is why I don't value his opinion whenever there's a discussion regarding Lebron or the Miami Heat.

Smith, was same person that said the Celtics were going to get slaughtered by the Heat, before the ECF started. He was wrong! Smith is a caricature that is why he's parody on NBC's SNL.

Austin then responds:
Quote
"They had them(Miami)3-2,Stephen A. Lebron had an unbelievable game".

Stephen A. Smith responds:
Quote
Lebron walked in (BOS), did what he did.

True, but for people like Smith, who tend to forget that Lebron's had some of his best games in Boston. Matter of fact Lebron(Cavs) dropped 45pts in the 2008 SECF, but Paul Pierce, who was younger, healthier and equally offensively good as Lebron, dropped 41pts.

What people tend not to mention about Lebron's great performance in game 6 of the ECF, the Celtics performance were just as bad as Lebron's performance was great. The Celtics were simply flat and played as if there was no since of urgency.

Game 7, the Celtics had another chance to win the series and at some point looked as if they were on schedule to pull off a win. The Celtics had an 11pt lead in the first-half, but as usual couldn't hold on to it. During the second half the Celtics and Heat went back-n-forth scoring. The end result was Miami got points production from starters and bench. Whereas the Celtics starters gave production and the bench as unit scored just 2 pts, not beating any team with a bench total of 2pts.

That is why the Celtics lost the ECF.

I completely agree with him. We are a much better team with Terry taking Ray's minutes and Lee taking over the starting slot til bradley comes back healthy.

I agree with you. That is exactly what he said, because he made a similar comment on twitter Aug 9, 2012. I don't think of Miami the way Smith does. I think the Heat are a very good team, but not great. Smith is just annoying at times, because his obsession with Lebron is beyond borderline obsessive. I didn't know there were 15 Lebron's on the Heat roster, because that is what I hear whenever Smith talks about the Heat. lol
