Sorry if this isn't the appropriate place to put this but it's a dead part of the off-season so I figured why not?

So I got a call from a female friend of mine last night saying that she was going to a party downtown when she got off work and asked me if I wanted to go.  I said sure.  As I was getting ready she sent me a txt and asked me if I knew who Jajuan Johnson was (she knows I was a big Celtics fan)I told her of course and she said that's whose party we were going to - apparently one of the other waitresses she works with went to high school with him and go way back.

So around 12 we pull up to a downtown condo ; go inside to find out it's five stories complete with a movie theatre and all.  Really cool guy - supplied all the alcohol for everyone and seemed very down to earth.  He told me to feel free to come back anytime but I didn't get his number or anything.  I'm definitely gonna try to get back through her though.

That's all.  Nothing exrta special but it was really cool.  I didn't talk basketball with him other than asking him about playing with Ray who said that he was always the constant professional but would get noticeably upset when he seen others not acting in the some manner.

TP man.  Sounds like a cool experience.  Was this Boston or Houston?

Sounds awesome.

If JJJ has a decked out five story condo, I hope he's got roommates.  He's only earned $2 million in his career (counting this coming season).  I hope he's banking some of that, rather than spending it all on a pad and alcohol.

It's a cool story, and I'm glad everyone had a good time.  I just worry about young kids like this, especially since JJJ seemed like a nice guy.  I hope he's taking steps to secure his financial future, because I don't anticipate he'll have a long NBA career.

probably a rental. I think rondo rented a condo his rookie year, and jeremy lin rented a 3000/mo condo in white plains. Probably 6k+/mo for that setup though.

I agree with the gist of what you're saying, but also keep in mind that Houston has a pretty low cost of living.

I did a quick search on Trulia and 4 story condos in downtown go for $500-600K (so a 5 story is probably more).

He now owns a hard asset, and is likely getting some tax breaks from the mortgage.

Of course, the whole "throwing a big party and supplying all the alcohol" is a troubling sign. And we know that pro athletes are notoriously bad with their money....

The location of it makes me think that it's a rental.  It's right downtown on Mass Ave which is a strip of all bars-clubs here in Indianapolis.

I wouldn't think properties there come available for sale too often (not that Ive ever been in the market)

I thought JJJ was in Houston? Indy is his off-season home?

Well he was born and raised in Indianapolis.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Hahahaha. Solid point. I was going to mention this, but I'm always "that guy."
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.
