Refs beat us not the HEAT.   I too think we will be ok.

Does "blowing it up" actually work any more? The reason everyone is going to the Heat and the Lakers (ahem, and us) is because good basketball players seem to really want to play for contenders these days. That means that, with respect to attracting talent, being a contender is a considerable asset. Blowing it up undercuts that... I think the only time when blowing it up is a good idea is when you're salary cap is loaded down with burdensome long-term contracts. That's not the case for us.

Let's watch how blowing-it-up plays out for Houston and Orlando over the next few years and then revisit. =)
There are plenty of ways to blow it up.  The Heat blew it up by essentially having their entire team expire at the same time (and then moved Beasley in a salary dump).  That seemed to work out quite well for them.  Boston certainly could have explored a similar strategy by only signing guys to one year contracts this past season with an eye towards free agency next summer, when Dwight Howard and Josh Smith are both available and who are both friendly with Rondo.  Sure it might not have worked out, but that might have very well been worth the risk.  The shot at that was extinguished with KG, Bass, Green, Terry, and Lee all getting long term deals rather than 1 year deals.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Yeah, blow up a team that has a realistic shot at the title this year... ::)

Define "realistic"?

I think as currently constructed, C's are a top 4 team in the East.  Not top 2 - top 4.

Isn't that what we were last season?  Did we not take the eventual NBA champs all the way to the 4th quarter, in a Game 7, on their home court, in the Eastern Conference finals, after being up 3-2 and seriously threatening them with a major upset?

Didn't that team, at least on paper, get better this offseason?

If that is not a "realistic" shot at contention, then nothing is.

We were also, ourselves, taken to a Game 7 the round before by an 8th seed which, by the way, has significantly improved.

The only relatively healthy players we had in our rotation for that series were Rondo, KG and Bass. I think it's a little early to give up on the season, but that's just me.
