BOston is going to have to "GET" there FA the HARD WAY ...in other words be like the PATS , MAKE the Celtics a contender team year in and year out. A team to go if you don't get to be a Laker.

FA aren't going to come to Boston the "RETIRE" and play golf , make movies or meet gobs of Hollywood celebs.

Boston "NOW" has the CORE  of coachs  and staff what it will take to presuade other FA"S to want to play for the Celtics. (after of course LA gets to cherry pick who they want)

What Boston  'needs' to do is  offer is a FA who hasn't won a title a shot by comming together with other such players.

Most of the "BEST" players are gonna play for the LAKERS, but NOT ALL can.   SO the best the rest of the NBA can try and do is snag what FA LA doesn't want...

Its always gonna be an uphill battle for the Celtics... LA only has to kidnapp, stalk , whatever to get anyplayer they want, by what ever means it seems.

SO it will just be THAT much more sweeter when the Celtics can snag a Banner from the Lakers ....to whom everything is handed to them basically on a silver platter.

Our Banners will mean more IMO than LA's stupid  right to be champions banners they hang.

Well, that card came out quickly.

Referring to it as a "card" suggests that you are unfairly dismissing the possibility that it is a legitimate reason.
I'm not dismissing anything.  "Card" refers to the posting of a link laced with inflamatory innuendo in regards to the OP's topic with no evidence of the incident having anything to do with free agents opinions of Boston as a city or the Celtics as an organization.  Also, are you telling me LA doesn't have a history of race problems?

There's so much contradiction in this thread.

And a lot more overreaction.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
To cosign what a few others have mentioned, the NBA is a business, and more often than not, making good business decisions may not always be easy, and certainly are not always popular.
The weather issue probably isn't a big a deal as others make it out to be, but taxes certainly are an issue. The cost of living in Massachusetts is ranked 5th highest in the country behind NY, DC, SF and LA. The problem is, Boston is much smaller and may offer less than those other cities, and in order to get some privacy, value for money and local proximity to The Garden, you pretty much have to live an hour outside of the city. Many of the Celtics live out in Lexington, Waltham, Wellesley and Concord. Even without traffic, that's not a quick run into town. They may make tons of money, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be smart with expenses. Also, wouldn't you want to live close to your families as well?
Next is playing time. Guys who are out there at the back end of their rookie contracts are wanting a raise and some time on the floor. Until KG and PP are down to playing 10-12 minutes a game, who would want to come and back them up? That would be even more true for a veteran in his prime--why waste your best years splitting time with another all-star calibur player?

Wrong.

Mitch Cupcheck would have traded his grandmother to get Dwight Howard.

I might...
