pierce can't come off the bench, hes our highest scoring starter and he has always been that.  you cant make a huge change to his routine like this and expect the same numbers. His presence on the court is a constant threat, and not having him present at the start makes us less intimidating.  Not to mention itll hurt his ego and kg wont like it.

but to play devils advocate I can see it happening if his knees are much worse/he is injured elsewhere, or jeff green completely exceeds expectations and proves to be as effective at the 3.

Pierce is a rhythm shooter.  He can't just come off the bench cold and play at the same level.  He needs to be on the floor for longer than 5 minute stretches.


On the other hand, Pierce doesn't really need Rondo to score as much as Green does. Plus, his iso's and scoring threat would be a major punch coming off the bench vs. second teamers.
