Wojnarowski once again with the scoop, though the move has been rumored for at least a week.

Minnesota has waived forward Martell Webster, league source tells Y! Sports.

Should the Celtics reach out? I tend to think so, if Webster could be signed for a low dollar amount. I'd prefer Courtney Lee, but not at the cost of a future 1st to Houston.

Third string SF / fifth wing in the depth chart = sure.

Too slow and limited defensively to give minutes as a two guard after his back injury. Better off just playing Pierce + J.Green together.

Man, I don't know. He's incredibly injury prone. And he doesn't seem like all that good a shooter (career 41%).

Edit: you know, money being equal, I think I'd rather have Kris Joseph.

I'm not thrilled about the prospect, just intrigued.

He looked much better in 10-11 (45 FG% 42 3PT%) than last season, he's four months younger than Jeff Green and puts up similar #s per 36.

I have been watching Martelle Webster as he is working out in a camp at a community center gymn near me in Clearwater.  He has been running drills with college players and and prospects.  (One day Tony Gaffney was one of the participants.)  Anyway, he truthfully has looked a little lost in some of the drills, and is not one of the faster guys on the court. His shooting drills haven't been outstanding in that group either.  I say pass.  Some the guys in summer league have been much more intrigueing to me...(Christmas..)  I realize Martelle went #6 in his draft class.  I think they said he has been traded twice and  played in Turkey but I have misplaced my notes.  Of course, the day I watched could just have been a bad day...

I was told his contract is coming up next year and he is getting in shape.  Guess waived is more final than that.

According to their beat writer, it looks like the Wolves have also dumped Brad Miller's salary onto the Hornets.

Brad Miller traded to New Orleans along with two future second-round picks in exchange for a future conditional second-round pick.

Along with the Webster release, this should clear the necessary cap room to allow the Wolves to formally submit an offer sheet to Nic Batum.

I thought I should add this information to the question of Martelle Webster.  This morning I spoke very briefly with  Ryan  Pannone, one of the coaches at the basketball clinic I have been following, who has been working with Martelle.  He said that Martelle is a sharpshooter, who would really help fill the void left by RA nicely.

I was only there for a few minutes today.  They were filming some basketball dexterity drills...two men, two basketballs, and two tennis balls, between the legs, behind the back.  Ryan said they will be going up on a website, basketballhq.com. Watching the various drills has been a blast...I am a basketball junkie.  I have watched Martelle and Tony Gafney, among others.
