The difference between the overall impact of Bynum and Howard at this point isn't that big. I also have no faith in Mike Brown making that situation work.

No way howard can deal with being a potential fourth option in LA after being the guy in Orlando.

Fourth option?  Nash only averaged 12 a game last year.  The Lakers had enough room for Kobe to average 28, Bynum to average 19, and Gasol to average 17.

How about - Kobe (27), Howard (18), Gasol (15), Nash (11).

Dwight isn't their fourth option, if you mean scoring.  Fourth option to sing the national anthem or something maybe.

And regardless of whether Dwight is much better than Bynum, he is a much better fit.  You can improve a roster by improving the fit of players too.

Nash scored less than Jared Dudley last year.  He's an elite distributor.  Dwight as the fourth option? SMH.

That doesn't matter.  His fit on the Lakers is what matters.  This isn't a one-on-one game played in a vacuum.  What impact will Dwight have on his teammates?

They still play 5-on-5, right?

He might be a slight upgrade in talent.  He is an enormous upgrade in fit.

Dwight is a huge impact.

1)  Defense and rebounding improves

2)  The Lakers get more athletic.

3)  Dwight doesn't malfunction in the big game like Bynum.

4)  Dwight was an effective offensive player as the number one option with a great PG.  Now he is going to have Kobe and Gasol pulling defenses while being feed by Nash.

I still cant get over game 7 in 2010. Sorry, but I just cant. Not to mention KG's knee injury ruining our chance to smack them around in 09.

oh really......What was your jersey number?  You weren't part of team either team. Stop feeling guilty. It's players that lost the match.

This board is so filled with over-reaction it is silly.  I feel that DH is over rated.  Yes, he is the best center in the NBA when there are exactly two good centers, DH and Bynum.  He is a great Def center, but he has no great post moves.  He isn't a great passer and he is a terrible free throw shooter.  Yes, DH will help out the D covering up for some of the old guys on LA, but I don't understand how he helps LA make some quantum leap to the finals.  You still have OKC in the way.  A team that is younger, quicker, more explosive and only getting better.  The lakers have a really rough road to even get to the finals through OKC, DH or not.

I also don't think that DH has championship mentality / maturity.  I think he is soft mentally, and that is why KG/Perk have always had the upper hand on him.  We have seen it over and over again through all the drama of him opting out, not wanting to play for Stan, basically covering his butt so he can look better to the media.  I can def see him being an odd match with the perfectionist / ultra competitive Kobe.

I am SO glad that he isn't playing for the C's.  I am glad we didn't trade all of our young guys to get him.
