I think there is plenty of love for Pietrus, but he wants more money than we can actually give. If we had his rights, he'd probably be signed by now. If Pietrus wants to come back to the Celtics, he's gonna have to do it at the vet minimum.

Ainge is gonna try pretty hard to get Lee or Mayo, I don't know if either is really going to happen, but I wouldn't put anything past Ainge.

If he can't get either, and Pietrus doesn't want to accept the vet min, look for a McGrady, or Grant Hill like signing. McGrady would start at SG till Bradley gets back, if it's Hill, Pierce would start at SG for a few months and Hill would be your SF.

MP must know that the vet min is all we can afford to give him.  I'm sure he is not signed for the same reason J8 is still off the books- to keep our cap flexibility as long as possible to see if Danny can work some magic.  If no better options fall into our lap I assume (translation: hope) that Peaches will come for whatever we can afford to pay him.

Paul Pierce and/or Jeff Green can play some SG where necessary.

Plenty of quality options for the minimum for more depth at SG/SF. Not much at PG though. If not Dooling, the available third string PG options are fairly underwhelming.

Not at all concerned about the depth on the perimeter at this point in time.

I think it is a big mistake to focus on SG at this stage when our Big man issues are so clear.

Melo and JjJ are not going to give us anything this year (if ever).

Wilcox is a big signing; but Sulinger will not last at center. His back will take a beating.

We need a big to pair with Sulinger and not Darko or Melo. Very disappointed in JjJ and very pleased with Moore and Christmas. Either of them are as good as Mayo or Lee and Moore can play PG.

Right now Wilcox and KG would have to split time at center.

Which big man was out there that the Celtics could get with the MLE that is as good or better then Terry?

Terry will obviously be our first option at PG, but I'd be perfectly happy with us having either Moore or Dooling as a 3rd tier backup PG.  Both are solid enough combo guards who can play either the 1 or 2.

I have not read any reports that Mickael Pietrus is looking for more than the vet. minimum.  I think he would gladly take a cool mill. for another year in the NBA, and I'm sure his dream is to once again get the chance to be a Boston Celtic.

I'd be happy with Keyon and Peaches to round out the back court.

Wow. I feel like we've won the championship already from that lineup.

Quite franlkly, I don't see why people keep on insisting we are thin at the guard spots.  Rondo and Terry can consume approx 70 of 96 minutes between those two spots if need be.  Also, what is it with people acting like Bradley is some cripple who will never play again?

Bradley could just as easily be our opening night starting SG as he could miss the 1st month.  Point is, even if he does miss some time, it won't be much in all likelyhood.  Rondo, Bradley and Terry will eat up just about evry minute there is to be had at the guard positions.

As added insurance, we could easily play Pierce and Green together at the wing spots if need be in certain situations.  Besides, I'm pretty sure if we offer Pietrus the BAE, he'll take it.  Dooling would probably take a vet min deal as well, further shoring up the depth at gurad.  We're just simply waiting to see if better options become available.

Absent injuries, the guard spots will be the least of our concerns this upcoming season.

Unless Darko can dig deep and give us some minutes at 2, which I don't know about this year. In the beginning of his career, I'd say yes. But he has taken a beaten down low and I'm not sure he still has the foot speed or wherewithal to cover quick shooters like antawn jamison at the 2.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
It'll be Rondo, Moore, Terry and Bradley when he's back.
Pierce can play point forward, so can Joseph. We'll be fine.

I agree that Pietrus and Dooling were solid. Would love to see them back.. But I don't think Darko and Jamison have ever played the 2 in their careers. Darko could give you a few minutes at the 3 initially when he came in the league and Jamison could give you minutes at the 3 really early in his career and part of his prime, but they never played the 2. You'd have to have an extremely short handed roster to ever have those guys playing there.
