So I just ordered some Thai food, and found out the delivery guys don't get the 2$ delivery fee - about a dollar of it gets redistributed for gas.

I used to pay 20%, but included the 2$ fee in it. In hindsight I've mostly been tipping 1 dollar(I live alone and order in a lot), and I'm surprised my house hasn't been egged yet.

What about you guys? How do you tip your driver?

  • It's what I do! It's who I am!
Depends on a bunch of different things, but I always tip a decent amount so they don't spit in my food next time.

I try to tip about 5 or 6 dollars. When i order a pizza and the amount is like 14 bucks i give them a 20 and tell them to keep the change. I feel bad asking for change but if i really need it i will. Times are tough man im not rich lol.

I usually give $5 to the delivery guy but they also add 2-3$ (before they come) to the bill which is called the "tip" but I have heard the delivery people don't get it. So, I guess I am technically giving them $7-8...

My girlfriend is my delivery driver and she tips better than me.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
$3 if less than $20, $5 if more.

What's worse is sometimes I'd round down and the actual tip would be like 80 cents.

To think they sat in their cars and did the calculation..

AND THEN REALIZED

I rarely have anything delivered since I can drive (or walk) to the places I order from and get back before the delivery guys would show up.

Knowing I can do a round trip before the drivers make a delivery puts their efforts into perspective for me (that and the fact I used to deliver pizza as one of my part-time college jobs).

I feel 2-3 bucks is sufficient within a 2 mile radius.

I always tip $5 unless it's a really big order.  I usually will just go pick up my order myself unless it's a situation (bad weather, drunk, friends over, big game on) that makes me feel like $5 is very worth the delivery.

$3 if less than $20, $5 if more.
That's a very good amount.  I used to deliver pizzas back in college and I always felt that anything under $3 was a bad tip, $3 was a good tip, $5 was a great tip, and anything more than $5 was (wonderful, but) really unneccessary unless it's a big order more than $50.

$3-4 standard.  $5 if they arrive quickly or have a longstanding good history.

Maybe it is where I live (TN), but $2 is pretty standard for pizza.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.
