Can you blame him? Johnson was a 4-year college player and was drafted by a team desperate for a quality big man. Yet despite that, he rarely got off the bench. What does that say?

We weren't desperate for a big man. We actually had great depth with our big guys, which sadly disappeared mid-season+.

JJJ was lazy on defense and looked like he was clueless...slow on everything. I highly doubt he adds anything to this team...if he can't hit the jumper he is worthless out there...absolutely worthless

While I have no idea, I remember posts like this last year about Bradley.

Remember, this will be JJJ first real offseason with the Celtics.  There is a real chance for improvement and earning minutes.

lets hope so....but I don't expect much from him...too thin to play the post and not consistent enough on his jumper...afraid he will be a d league regular this season

I don't think it's something JJJ can "learn." He isn't athletic enough to be a rotation guy for a contender in the NBA. Not a terrible thing, just reality... can see it from watching 1:00 into his "highlight video" on youtube. He's not strong enough to play with a wide stance and defend/rebound, he's not athletic enough to move laterally with SFs and guards, and there isn't a shooting percentage high enough to negate those deficiencies... especially not on a slow, defensive-oriented contender.

Good point, but Sullinger does seem to have the talent to atleast be a role player next year.

Sullinger will beast from Day 1 and earn a starting spot. KG likes playing with a widebody.  If I'm Sullinger, I'm salivating about posting up in the NBA, surrounded by shooters like KG, PP and RA/JT, as opposed to having five college players gumming up the paint all the time.

He's going to have to learn the defense, but playing with KG should help in that regard.

I doubt it. They committed likely starter money to Bass. Right now I don't see there being mnutes for them to earn even if they practice well unless there's an injury. KG and Bass play about 30 minutes. Green will play at least 10min at the 4 also. Stiemer or any vet center will play the other 18 backup center minutes. That leaves MAYBE 5-8 minutes on a good day for JJ/Sully to play. At that point, why bother? I'm not gonna say Doc won't play kids because when they have earned minutes they play. In this case though, now that Bass is back there simply aren't any minutes to earn. We're drafting trade pieces here.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I think Doc will play whoever proves that they deserve it. Bass has proved he deserves it.

Doc won't play a guy just to help him develop. He'll do right by the rookies if they deserve it. He's proven that many times over.

KG has been hovering around 29-31 minutes for the last few years, I'd like to see Doc cut his minutes to 25ish during the regular season and give him the Duncan treatment and give him days off(back to backs). Which would open up extra minutes for Sully.
