Do we depend on Joe Johnson?

Maybe, just maybe, this is the way Danny is trying to fill our needs (athleticism, rebounding and scoring):

1) Resign the band (maybe with Krstic) but keeping the MLE
2) sign Josh Smith to bring us youth, athelticism, scoring, rebounding and, of course, a fantastic rim protector to pair with KG

I'm pretty sure Danny was trying to sign JS (do you remember what JS say about celtics crowd after elimination?) but was stopped by Nets/Hawks talks about Joe Johnson. How?
I guess this is the way:

S&T Bass (Danny yesterday met Bass representatives: they were satisfied, but the talks still hold, is this the reason? Remember: doc spoke about Green and Allen, not about Bass) + JJJ/Sullinger/Melo + #1 round pick 2013 + #2 round pick 2013 (from charlotte) + maybe some other trade bait.

Add a scorer to help the bench: Jason Terry? Oj Mayo? Very difficult, but not impossibile...

I guess we have to wait what's going on between Nets and Hawks. H

I am thinking that Danny might be setting up a trade this like.
I was hoping he could get in on it and give something Bass+Melo for Smith, and send Smith to the Lakers for Gasol.
Unfortunately Gasol makes 19 million so that is basically impossible.
I would probably send Bass+Melo for Smith, but not much more. Maybe throw in that 2nd round pick that we recently got for the Jeff GreenGate situation.
Other than I wouldn't give up more because Smith can walk next year anyway. At least ATL gets a replacement power forward and a nice prospect in Melo.

I would replace Melo with JJJ.  With Smith/Sully manning the 4, he seems to be the odd guy out again.  Melo is a true Centre, and, I think, has a higher ceiling.
