Quick interview with Fab Melo as a Celtic...

Melo sure seems like a mellow guy.  I hope he's going to be ready for the barrage of intensity that Kevin Garnett is going to throw at him.

Good point - if we were going to take a center at this point I was really hoping it would be Ezeli. I know it may have seemed early to take him but he went at 30 anyway to Golden State.

I just thought his toughness ( 6' 11", 265 and said to be extremely tough around the basket and mentally as well) would have been a great fit for this team.

I hope I'm wrong. When I look at Melo he just seems like a Mark Blount / Patrick O'Bryan type. I haven't seen him play a single game, just a few highlights so my judgement of him is limited to what I've read and the highlights I've seen.

I liked what I read and saw about Ezeli...

The big rap on Ezeli was his terrible, terrible hands.

I think Melo was the right choice.

I've watched a few of his games and he goes after it. He lost a lot of weight which helped his mobility and he'll be a decent shot blocker in the NBA at the least. He gets fired up, screams and pumps his fists occasionally on making a great defensive play- even stares down opposing players.

We also have a (not so) secret weapon poking and prodding him to reach his potential. It's called Kevin Garnett.

Ok, good to hear. Again, I've never really seen him play. While I had doubts about that pick on draft day, overall I think Danny has done decently with most of his big man draft picks - actually I think better with bigs over the years than with guards, oddly enough.

If he gets after it and is active, physical and tough minded, I'll be stoked.

Agreed re KG with the prodding. 

Melo does look athletic and like he good get up and down the floor pretty good with Rondo.

While Ezeli is tougher, Melo has more upside. He's a better offensive player than Festus is and a better shot blocker.

Ezeli for me really is the embodiment of an enforcer. He'll be tough inside and play hard nosed defense, set screens but do nothing else. In Melo, you can't just leave him alone mid range or he'll makes shots. He's not as tough nosed, but he bangs inside, blocks shots more better than Ezeli is. Not to mention with better footwork.

Melo has average hands.   Not good not bad but he could stand to improve in this area.

Don't worry,  KG will teach Melo low post rebounding and blocking out ... and I hope a little of KG's nasty tude rubs off on Fab ...he needs to be  KG sponge ....and live in the weight room.
