I don't think he'll ever have as good a season as Perk in 2010.

In terms of Perry Jones, he arguably regressed from his freshman to sophomore seasons, he never lived up to his talent, and he's got work ethic issues.  Plus, we'd be asking him to play SF, and he doesn't have the outside shot to play there effectively.  Best case, he's Thad Young without the outside shot.  Plus, he's already got meniscus problems, which could eventually lead to bone-on-bone / no cartilage issues.

All that said, I wanted Jones, too.  He's not without risk, though.

Pretty good assessment of a guy with unlimited upside ... if he ever decides to play.

Don't agree they are similar.  On the court at least, Melo has improved year 1 to 2.  Perry Jones got worse.

And say what you want about Melo but he does what he is capable of doing out there.  PJ III is an enigma to me because he could do so much more.  He wants to be Durant when he should be trying to be Chris Bosh.

Could not disagree with you more about Melo. He is every bit the enigma that PJIII, without the substantial upside. Danny hit on Sullinger, but he missed big time on Melo.

Seems like there were some serious injury concerns with PJIII, and us rolling the dice with Sulliger, we really couldn't afford to take on another injury risk. You guys are aware that first rounders have guaranteed contracts right? You don't fill your roster with two injury concerns who haven't played a minute in the NBA with guaranteed contracts.

Though it would've been nice to have someone like PJIII, in a practical scenario taking on both him and Sullinger seems like too high a risk in my opinion.

I'm assuming that the New CBA hasn't done away with guaranteed contracts to first rounders.

I can't really see PJ3 as a starting SF.  Doesn't have enough skills.  So, he's likely to get NBA minutes as a backup PF perhaps a backup SF.  So, with KG, JJJ and Sullinger at the 4, I just don't see where PJ3 fits in.

Imagine a lineup in a few years of:

Rondo
Bradley
PJ3
Sullinger
Melo

Where's the outside scoring, go to scorer?  Our SF needs to be a prototypical SF who can carry the load.  PJ3 is not that guy.

I think you should look up the word.  I know what Melo is, he just needs to improve.  PJ III thinks hes Durant and tries to play like it when he's clearly not.

Not optimistic about PJ3's pro career. I think he'll be a decent but unexceptional PF.

Quite happy that Danny passed on him. Although, I am still not sure what to make of Fab Melo.

Well maybe its the beer talking but I feel better now. As someone else said JjJ is better that PjIII so why do we need two of the same. Sulinger is a no brainer. Melo is a project, but a very intriguing one. Syracuse were huge last year. They dominated with their size at every position.

Love the joseph pick. We got a 3 a 4 and a 5.

Summer league we are going to dominate.
Moore, Bradley, Joseph, Sully/JjJ, Melo/Stiemer

Maybe we can even get Machado.

Heres how you feel better:  the Heat didn't pick him.  Nor did any other eastern conf team.  Teams passed on him because he is the type of guy IF he becomes a star it will likely be for his second team after his first team put in all the work for him.  Boston is trying to win now and we needed guys who may contribute this year.  He wasn't that guy. 

How is Melo going to contribute next season? Doc doesn't play rookies. Especially a rookie who won't be ready with a low bb iq and a questionably attitude. We will be sorry for this pick for a long time.

Except for those who play good defense (That's why JJJ and Moore didn't play very much. Bradley was injured during his rookie year, btw. )

Bradley will not be in this year's summer league. He is still recovering from surgery.
