Don't get too fired up about Ersan. The guys at BrewHoop seem pretty cool to him and do NOT want to overpay him (past 8mm seen as too much for most). Can't find many dissenting opinions in the 127 comments either. He will be overpaid by someone, I don't want it to be us, judging by these comments.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Those guys know what I and every guy who bought illy hard after his first very decent year back in the Nba after his hiatus in Europe.

His second year was a pretty major let down, this year was a perk. It might be a sign of things to come, or it might be a lot of other things, a guy playing for a contract, a guy who got hot for just the right amount of time to make a 66 game season look like a monster...a lot of things.

Basically you think you're buying a super hustle stretch 4 who plays tough defense and rebounds well. In actuality you're also getting kinda good defense and terrible shot selection, along with pretty bad ball handling.

Bass was very good from mid range, Ilyasova can shoot well (45% from 3). Ilysova is a significantly better rebounder than Bass. He's also better running the floor than Bass. I see him as a big upgrade over Bass.

Who would you guys rather us sign for around $8-10 MM?
Humphries?
Landry?
Hickson?
Beasley?
Thompson?
Lopez?
Kaman?
Hawes?
Asik?
Hibbert?
McGee?
Bass?
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I'd say none of those guys. Just cuz there is money don't mean you must spend it.

Beasley excites me as a Bass replacement and multi-year project with high end potential at PF.

eh idk I'd probably sign Ilyasova for 8m but nothing more... a 4 that shoots 45% from 3 and rebounds well is a perfect fit for Rondo

Someone will severely overpay Ilyasova.

McGee-Denver will pay him-Pass
Hibbert-Indiana will pay him-Pass
Asik-Limited player-Pass
Beasley-Mental Midget-Pass
Hawes-Soft as a tissue-Pass
Kaman-Injury-prone-Pass
Hickson-Low BBIQ-Pass
Thompson-Backup PF-undecided

Leaves us with

Landry
Humphries

Pick the better rebounder- Humphries it is.

I like Ersan.  Can't remember the first time I saw him play (think two years ago), but I remember thinking some of the same things mentioned in the piece from BrewHoop.  Though the poster is reluctant to the idea of re-signing him, he couldn't deny what makes Ersan valuable.  Describing him as ...." committed to the little things, glass crashing maniac, strong positional defender"......things u like to hear!

I could certainly see him excelling hear.  Also believe Doc would like to have him as well!  Unfortunately, as is always the case, how much money will it take?

the only 2 players listed that could be worth 8-10 mill are Hibbert and Mcgee and that's IF they continue to develop.  you'd be paying them on the speculation that they'll continue to improve.  Everyone else is a role player or short-term asset if acquired and you don't pay that kind of money for that type of player.

I think each of them could contribute as a role player is used right.  I wouldn't throw a lot of money or years at these guys though which is why none of them will be signed here.
