Interestingly, based on the NBA rookie salary scale. Our #21 and #22 if packaged together is worth the #8 pick held by Toronto. Toronto is rumored to be packaging the pick. I know they want a vet in return but it kind of gives you a ball park estimate as to what we could expect in return. Wonder how far up we could get if we packaged both picks plus Avery Bradley. I love Avery but he is a coveted asset due to his talent and bargain priced rookie contract. I'm sure DA is kicking the tires of all his players. Lets assume that in a draft redo, Avery is considered as the 10th best player (very conservative) in his draft class. The 10th pick this year is worth $1.8M, #21 is worth $1.089M and #22 is worth $1.045M. Add that up and that comes to $3.93M. The top overall pick is worth $4.29M and Davis is a legit franchise player so that's out of reach but the #2 overall pick would be $3.83M so that could work.

My question is, as much as we all love Avery, would you trade him and both our picks for the #2 overall pick in the draft? Danny has talked to or worked out Kidd-Gilchrist and Drummond and there are rumors that Charlotte wants out of the #2 so its not crazy to imagine. We would probably have to eat a contract and/or throw in a kicker like a top 20 protected 1st rounder in 2015 to sweeten the pot.

This is all done in fun but I think the rookie scale is at least looked at as a point of reference when GMs evaluate a potential trade between draft picks.

Technically, draft picks have no value in trades, until they come to terms on their rookie contracts.

This is true.

Don't worry about how much they will eventually get paid.  Technically you can trade the #21st and #22nd picks for the 1st pick.  That would never happen, of course.

Also... would I trade the 21st, 22nd and bradley for the 2nd pick?  Absolutely.  Would anyone trade a top 5 pick for that package?.. nah.  No team outside of Boston is going to value Bradley the way the Celtics do.  He had a month of good shooting as a starter... shot 36% in the playoffs and is coming off shoulder surgery.  He's an undersized shooting guard who supposedly is a great defender, but the sample size is too small to really care.  DOn't get me wrong... Bradley showed signs of being a really aggressive kid on defense... reminded me a lot of Marcus Banks as a rookie.  Boston may, in fact, have a great player in Bradley... but we'll just have to wait and see.  I don't even know if we could get a pick in the 15-20 range for Avery Bradley straight-up.

If Avery Bradley, today, were in this draft he would be a Top 10 pick.  Why would we trade him and 2 1st rounders for someone of potential equal value?
