Again, as others have said, this isn't about people wanting PP to stay in Boston at all costs.  This is about people not wanting to see PP traded for something inconsequential.  And that looks to be about all that anyone's offering these days.

And if that's the case, the salary space he clears when his deal expires is likely more valuable than any trade.

For me a part of it is definitely wanting Paul Pierce to retire a Celtic at all costs.

I HATE the title of your thread it offends me in the way you say you tired of people like me. Well I would LOVE The Truth to retire as a Celtic. Since we drafted him he has been loyal to us and we paid that loyalty with two trades for KG and Ray Ray. That ended up with a championship and a memorable run with The Big Three.

A player like him deserves a say if he should be traded or not. I bet if it will help the C's he would step out of the way and let it happen. But, it's offensive to me if a player that has meant so much to the franchise gets their back turned on. Danny will and should NOT do that for it will turn way worse than the Perkins trade.

Well...I 'm tired of you too, if you don't like our love for Paul,  suggest you find another team to follow and hate somewhere else....

I HOPE PAUL stays as long as he wants.

Pierce has showed some serious loyalty to the Celtics, and if he wants to retire a Celtic, I think that this organization owes it to him to let him do so under reasonable terms. Yes, OWES it to him.

I don't think we owe Ray or KG anything. But it would just be a travesty to get rid of one of your franchise all-time greats for spare parts.

Fans have the right to root for different things.

Some fans desperately want this team to bring back the big three and add pieces to make another run.

Other fans desperately want this team to tank to the bottom of the lottery, winning 25 games per season in the hopes that someday we'll be good enough to consistently reach the Eastern Conference Finals again.

Still other fans think that this franchise stands for even more than its 17 championships, and take pride in our history, tradition, and loyalty.  Those are the fans who are glad that Larry and McHale retired in green, and who appreciated the basketball those guys played while delaying our glorious 20 year rebuild.

I say, live and let live.  No group of fans has the monopoly on being right.  If folks want to trade Paul Pierce, good for them.  If they want to cheer a career Celtic when his number is retired, that's cool too.

Would I like Paul Pierce to retire as a Celtic?? Yes. But if they can better this team by trading PP, then Im all for it. Like I alway say, its a business. Jordan didnt retire a Bull, Wilkens didnt retire a Hawk, and even Robert Parish didnt retire a Celtic. Saw earlier someone suggest PP to Kings for Evans and #5 pick. If Celtics would turn that down, they're idiots.I know Kings wouldnt do that but u get my point.

then you are tired of me.  i want paul to retire a celtics, period!  having him retire a celtic would be as special to me as another banner.

If you can get a top 10-12 pick or pretty good player and its a to a team on the rise then you have to trade him in my opinion. If its to a joke franchise like the nets, I think he deserves more respect and am glad that was shot down. In the end, as a GM, you do what you feel is best for the team. One of the few trades for pp I wouldnt cry over is to GS for the #7 pick. GS looks like a team on the rise and pp could help them in his final years. I may also be saying this because i have family who live in Cali and are huge gs fans and therefore I feel like I wouldnt lose Pierce in a way. Even still, I wouldn't mind if he retired as a celtic. It's a complicated matter and everyone has their own opinion

Jordan retired a Bull twice.

Also, there's not a chance in hell that the Kings would give us Evans or the fifth pick for Pierce, let alone both. I'd imagine any rumor involving the Kings would have to be for Rondo.

Pierce was obviously not healthy this post season.

Even if he was healthy I don't know how effective he would have been if he had to keep guarding LBJ all series long.

Either way, having Bass or Pierce on the King didn't stop the King. Would Jeff Green, I dunno....

But if Paul was healthy....maybe he would have had some better offensive energy and could at least mitigate LBJ's offensive damage.

I believe we would have won Game 2 if PP was healthy and made a couple more baskets.

Paul shot like 38% from the field and 30% from the 3 this playoffs....that's not our normal Paul. I believe PP's efficiency was even worse in the ECF.

I've stated this in different threads anytime it is mentioned.  Paul Pierce deserves the right to stay with the team unless its a ray bourque sort of scenario.  If Paul would be ok with being traded to a contender (if we are not) then I'm fine with it.  Paul deserves to retire in a celtic uniform.  I can't see his play dropping off in the final 2 years of his contract.  Of course with that contract he would be tough to trade anyways.  If KG resigns then we don't even need to discuss this anyways.
