PG: Rondo   / Vet min (Dooling?)         / Moore
SG: Bradley / Pietrus                    / Waiters
SF: PP      / Green
PF: Illyasova/ Royce White or Nicholson  / JJJ    /Sean Williams
 C: KG      / Wilcox                     /Steimsma

If Bass opts out I go hard after Illyasova

Resign KG: 2 years/ 9 mil per( hopefully he takes a paycut so we can add depth)

Sign Illyasova: 3 years 8 mil per

sign Jeff Green 2 years 5 mil per

If Bass doesn't opt out I would go after Kaman or Humpheries on a 1 year deal and leave cap room to sign a big man in 2013.

That is an amazing picture in your sig.  If we win tonight I am sending that to everyone I know.

PG: Rondo, Moore
SG: Bradley, Alonzo Gee (rookie)
Sf: PP, Jeff Green, C.J Miles
PF: KG*,Brandon Bass, JJ,(Rookie),
C: Javale McGee*, KG* Steisma, Wilcox

I don't see Ray Allen resign, I hope he does.

If KG retires, I think Danny will try to sign Javale McGee. (he will fit nicely in with the new "Rondo system")

I have heard rumors that Celtics is looking to add Alonzo Gee and C.J Miles.

Taking the pressure off thinking about a game 6. Predict your fantasy yet realistic Celtics roster for next season. Here is mines.

Center: Greg Oden (mid-level) maybe LLE due to injury, but KG back in the fold helps our Center spot if Oden were to miss a little time.

Power Forward: K.G. (2yrs 18mil-22) maybe wishful thinking the way he's played but maybe he'll give us a hometown discount.

Small Forward: Josh Smith 4yrs (66-68 mil) & he gives us a extremely flexible defense playing 3-4 spots & makes for a very good shotblocking team. Very Big frontline!

Shooting Gaurd: Paul Pierce 1yr left at (OUCH Money) but he's our captain

Point Gaurd: Rajon Rondo

6th: PG-SG  *Avery Bradley (looking to trade him in draft to move up) out of respect that he's probably looking to start somewhere, he has arrived as a premier defensive gaurd stud.

7th: SF-SG Gerald Green (3yrs 9-12mil)hopefully he'll go 4 less & he could be instant offense from the bench which we lack alot of times. We have 3 erasers in the paint to cover up some defensive liabilities. New Rondo running mate & finisher, plus a welcomed high pct% 3pt. Spot up shooter.

8th: SG-SF Mikeal Pietrus much needed tough veteran with great defensive abilities & he wants to stay a Celtic

9th: SG-PG Austin Rivers (draft 1st pick barring we don't trade up) he would have no pressure to play & be Austin Rivers highscool stud. He could learn worth ethic from the best at their crafts & be patient being his dad is the coach & know he would be a BIG part of the future. 8-12 mins a game basically Dooling's role.

10th C Tyler Zeller (North Carolina) or PF Royce White (Iowa State) (either guy with 2nd 1st) projects who will be decent players down the line, emergency type players who provide depth & play sporadically early on.

11th: C Greg Stiesma same role as this season, play based upon matchups but a good solid big to bring off bench to stretch out a game block shots & protect paint & foul.

12th: PF JuJaun Johnson... hopefully year 2 he adds significant weight & strength maybe still won't be ready to contribute until 13-14 season. Project Big with potential though.

*If I could trade my 2 1st or a 1st and Bradley to move up high in the draft I would love to select SF Harrison Barnes from North Carolina.

Key Departures: Ray Allen (will demand more money & bigger role elsewhere) Keyon Dooling, Sasha Pavlovic, Marquis Daniels, Chris Wilcox, E'Twann Moore.

1. No way the Cs try to pair oden with KG, oden is way to big a gamble to waste KGs finals years on.

2. No way austin rivers and T Zeller fall to 21 and 22. most mocks have both going top 12

3. Josh Smith is NOT a FA

4. Gerald Green isn't a defensive player, the Cs will not even look at him

5. The celtics do not have the cap room for any of this

I expect

KG, J Green, Pietrus, Steimsma, Dooling, possibly wilcox to all be resigned

Ray to retire (hope not but likely)

Bass to either be left to walk or traded in S&T (he will want BBD like contract)

my best case draft picks are Moe Harkless and Andrew Nicholson
Mavs
Wiz
Hornet

roster will probably be something like this:

starters: Rondo, Bradley, PP, Green, KG

Bench: Ray, JJJ, Moore, Steimsma, Bass, Pietrus, Wilcox

Rookies: Nicholson, White, 2nd round pick (most likely a combo guard like Moore)

It's not sexy but I really think we're going to get almost everyone back that we had this year---especially if we win the title over OKC.

I think the playoffs have hurt Bass' value so he very well may pick up his option.  If not, I can't see him landing a big contract over what his option would pay.  This works well with him only having the 1 year on his deal and the C's picking up 2 forwards in the draft.

I think Ray's injury issues may hurt his contract as well and he may be had at a reasonable cost.  Preferably a 1-year deal, no more than 2 to expire with PP's deal.

I think KG returns for a 2-year deal to end it with PP and Ray.

Resign Pietrus and Wilcox to 1-year deals if they'll take them.  I think their health issues will keep bidding competition to a minimum.  I'd prefer an upgrade over Wilcox but don't think one will sign here for the money Danny will have left after resigning KG, Ray, Bass, Moore, Steimsma and Pietrus.

I'd look to JJJ and Moore to be rotation-ready after summer league and training camp.  Expect nothing from the rookies except learning from everyone else.

It's pretty balanced roster with most players being able to play more than 1 position to give Doc flexibility in the line-ups.

I'd like to have Dooling back in a reserve role, along with either Stiemsma or Hollins (maybe not both).  I'm fine with letting Daniels and Pavlovic walk, but would be OK with Daniels staying on as a 12th or 13th man.

As for Bass, every time I think he is going to decline his $4mil option for next year, he goes and disappears for 3 straight games.  If he does decline the option, I could see Boston letting him get a payday somewhere else.  A combination of JaJuan Johnson and another guy or two may be able to help fill that role.

I doubt there will be a huge change at the top of the roster, and doubts the bottom will play much.

Rondo/Moore
Bradley/PICK?
Pierce/Green/
Wilcox/Bass/JJJ/PICK?
KG/Steimsma/Hollins

and I wouldn't be surprised to see Quisy, Sasha, or Pietrus around, either.

I think they keep trying to make runs like this when they can with the veteran crew while the youngsters develop on a winning team with role models.

Danny values our guys pretty highly, and with good reason.  I doubt anyone else ponies up for a trade unless it's a blockbuster, and those are just unlikely.

Agree on Bass.  I'd prefer to have him back on the 1-year, but I also want KG, Steims, Wilcox, JJJ, and Hollins, so that would fill out the big rotations 3-deep.

I just can't see them not bringing anyone back.  Perhaps Pavolvic, Quisy, and Pietrus will find more money and a bigger role elsewhere and leave; they're good players.  The two first rounders will fill their roster spots.  Perhaps Quisy will stay.  He always seems to.

I have my doubts about Ray coming back.  I hope he retires, declining an invitation to come back.  Best for everyone.

Add Rondo, Pierce, Green, Moore, and Bradley to the bigs and Quisy, and you have a rotation.

Draft picks will have a lot to learn before cracking the rotation as injury replacements mid-season.

That's my prediction.

And there will be perpetual trade rumours, of course...

Ok, here is what I think could be good for near present and long future:

Rondo   /   Vet (Dooling or A.Miller)   /    Moore
Bradley    /   Ray Allen   /  Pietrus
Pierce     /   J Green    /   J Taylor  (or ideally T. Ross)
Nicholson  /   Brandon Bass   /  Wilcox (or JJJ, S Williams)
Garnett    /   Vet (Kaman or Humphries)  /  Stiemsma

Cost:
This is basically keeping the same team with players returning at a discount and adding J Green, two Rookies and two Vets!
I think we can afford to pay the underlined names J Green + A miller + Kaman or Humphries
with the saving we can negotiate with KG (Half pay cut), Ray (Significant pay cut if undergoes surgery), and the salary savings on Dooling, Marquis, Pav, JJJ, S Williams, Hollins... Plus maybe a little help from the owners in terms of luxury tax, if needed... ;-)

Draft:
I would draft Andrew Nicholson as a PRIORITY! and will throw him in the starting 5 to accelerate his development and cover him defensively with KG on his side so he can learn D quickly!!
If we can somehow get Terrence Ross (saw couple of mock draft where he slided to the 20s), then I slide Pietrus at the 3. Otherwise I would draft Jeff Taylor's size, 3 pt shooting and defense as our back up 3 of the future.

Starters:
The starting 5 will be the same as the one during the surge in the 2nd half of the season except for Bass who will be replaced by Nicholson... Maybe give up a little more point defensively but it would give us 2 new options offensively:
1) A 3-point shooting big and
2) A Low post scoring big a la AL Jefferson.

Options:
Such a team would have PLENTY of options :
3 pt shooting: (Ray, Pierce, Moore, Pietrus, Green, Nicholson)
Defense: (Rondo, Bradley, J Taylor, Pietrus, KG, Stiemsma)
Athleticism: (Rondo, Bradley, Taylor, Green, Wilcox)
Vet Experience: (Miller, Ray, Pierce, Wilcox, Garnett, Kaman)
Youth: (Rondo, Moore, Bradley, Green, Nicholson, Stiemsma)
Post up: (Miller, Pierce, Green, Nicholson, Kaman)
Mid range J: (Miller, Bradley, Pierce, Bass, Garnett, Kaman)

Conclusion:
This is a very realistic scenario in terms of the Draft (most mock Drafts have A Nicholson and J Taylor in the early 20s..) and somewhat realistic in terms of the free agents (J Green, A Miller and Kaman). A Miller would be the difficult one here but still doable... Such a team could line up a lot of combinaisons/mismatches! Almost everything would work!!! Rondo would have all the options he can wish for!! Whether it's running or defense, or 3pt shooting, or post up or mid range shooting, etc... We would be competitive NOW and we will be competitive in the years to come (if we manage to adequately replace The retiring big 3 with one big super star or two average big stars!).

What do you guys think..?? :-)

I've been through the math a bit thanks to the excellent salary cap thread that's pinned in the main forum. I like how much time you've put in to this post, but I don't think that Bass+Green+Kaman can fit on the same payroll with Rondo, Pierce, and half-price KG at ~ $10m.

Celtics resign Kevin Garnett.
Celtics resign Ray Allen.
Celtics resign Brandon Bass.

Celtics resign Keyon Dooling, Mickael Pietrus, Chris Wilcox, Marquis Daniels, Sasha Pavlovic, and Greg Stiemsma.

Celtics trade E'twaun Moore, the #21 & #22 picks of the 2012 NBA draft, to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Paul Millsap & Utah's 2nd round pick in 2012 (#47 overall).

Due to heart condition, Jeff Green is not cleared to play.

Depth chart after camp:

Rondo/Dooling/Allen
Bradley/Allen/Pietrus
Pierce/Pietrus/Daniels/Pavlovic
Millsap/Bass/Johnson
KG/Stiemsma/Wilcox

Open roster spot for 2nd round pick.

Championship banner #19 is sewn & threaded, ready for display in 2013.

**If Jeff Green is cleared, I of course look to sign him which would eliminate one if not two bodies

PG: Rondo/E-Moore/"Vet Backup PG like Dooling, or Dooling"

SG: Bradley/Pietrus/"Allen if he comes back cheap, or Vet 3-Pt Shooter"

SF: Pierce/Jeff Green/Pietrus/1st Round Pick

PF: "Bass if he opts in, or Vet Banger PF"/Jeff Green/JJJ/1st Round Pick

C: KG/Stiemer/"Hollins, Sean Williams, and/or Random 3rd String C"

I would not be surprised, if Bass leaves, if Jeff Green starts at PF for us.
