In an interview with ESPNBoston.com’s Jackie MacMullan, Rivers acknowledged the dilemma the team was facing with Allen, who has painful bone spurs in his ankles and has struggled mightily this postseason because of them.

Quote
“It’s a tough call with him,” Rivers said Tuesday afternoon. “We’re trying to figure out a different minute rotation for him, maybe that will help him. We’re even considering sitting him for a game, getting him a longer rest and then playing him, and then sitting him for a game. We don’t know what the right thing is.”

And here's Ray's thoughts:

Quote
"I'm just trying to find my balance," Allen said after Monday’s Game 1 loss to the Heat. "I feel good over it, I'm just not in a great rhythm right now. I just know I don't have good timing right now. The shot feels fine. If it's short, I know that I do have less lift on it . I just take it day by day, trying to figure out what I'm dealing with. I do have restrictions. That's why we have a great team here, why we have each other.

"I believe you guys know what I'm dealing with. It's nothing really to talk about. It's like a battle within myself, I have to try to win. It's a daily situation I have to deal with. This is the time I need to be out here to help the team win. When the season's over with, I'll have to deal with what I have to deal with myself, personally. Right now, it's the playoffs and you play."

Hahahahahh Doc it's the Playoffs. Our back is to the wall. It's ok to make a move Doc. Doc your Legacy will live on amoungst those of us who really know you. Your a great Coach with Great Teams. You will live in the Hearts of Celtic Fans. Sit Ray Doc his Mom won't hate you.

Doc you can't sit him a game and play him a game. The Celts are only going to play 4. The Grim Reaper would tell Allen...........You're done suck it up. Take one for the Gipper. Phoof.

Can't really afford to sit Ray out for a full game. They don't have enough bodies on the wing to both matchup against Miami's small-ball lineups + rest Ray.

It doesn't matter if Doc sits him for 1 game or he doesn't
He just needs to play Pavlovic and Daniels at least 5+ minutes a game

That won't help Ray or the Celtics. The Celts are thin as it is with the bench. Doc needs to stop awarding players when they're under performing, instead he needs to give guys like Sasha and Daniels some P/T at this point.

Doc's trying to cover his rear by saying he thought about what all of us can see quite obviously needs to be done, but that a person we all also admire and respect talked him out of it (that admirable person, of course, is Ray himself).

Unfortuantely, Doc's job is to play the guys who give the best chance to get it done.  Right now, it's hard to make a case for Ray when Sasha and Quisy are sitting there (heck, even Dooling).

No doubt Ray wants to play, just like he wanted to start when AB took his job.  The C's were better immediately when the necessary change was made.  Ray doesn't seem to be handling his physical limitations and lack of peak ability with much class...quite selfish, to be honest.  Surely he's never been in this type of situation (where the team would be better off without him).

Doc will make the adjustment when he absolutely has to, but no sooner.  I hope it's not too late.
