How about signing Andre Miller who will be or now is a free agent?  Great back up PG for Rajon and can also play some SG and mentor Bradley IF we don't re-sign Ray (which I doubt we will)??

Yes, he had a tough Game 7, but the 36-year-old still has some game left and a LOT of court savvy!!

Thoughts?

I'd rather sign Jason Kidd to close out his career here with Rondo and KG.

I will pass. I hope any new player that Danny signs is for long term. Like years running with Rondo and Bradley and whoever they draft. I can't see Miller getting more than 1 year at a time on a new contract if he does keep playing.
I moved the cheese.

Can't replace Ray with Miller (don't have the cap room) unless we blow it up and then why would we want him?

Not enough available minutes. Better to sign a quality big man instead.

Miller made it clear that he wants to be a starter. Not sure if some team will guarantee him a starting place, but he ain't coming here

Pointless idea, I would assume your a Miller fan?   Ray and Rondo can mentor Bradley as well as this bloke.

I am not a HUGE Miller fan, but respect his basketball IQ.  He is and has always been a very BRIGHT player!!

As for him demanding a starting role, this from Hoopshype Rumors today:

Miller is the only unrestricted free agent on the roster, so the decision to stay or leave is solely his. "I'll keep my options open," Miller said. "At this point in my career, if I'm going to be a backup, I'm going to be a backup on a championship-caliber team.

I really don't get why everyone is so demanding that we bring Ray back.  He is NOT in the end of close games on the defensive side because he is such a liability on defense.  Yeah, let's pay a guy like that $10 per.  BTW, he is shooting 28% from long range, 43.8% from the floor, and only 62.5% from the line in the playoffs and has only an 11.60 Efficiency Rating.

Ray has given us a lot through the years, but he is now a marginal player that really almost cost us the Atlanta game 6 and perhaps the series with a critical FT miss.

Seriously?  Allen is playing through an injury.  The guy misses half the first round, comes back, has a rough time and that's it?  Also, ignore the fact that he hit the only two threes we got for the C's last night, it's ok.

And to call him a defensive liability is misleading IMO.  Is he as strong on defense as Avery?  No way.  Which is why he's not in games when defense is needed.  It's not as if the guy doesn't play within the Celtics team defense, and it's not like the C's haven't had a smothering defense the last few years with him in the lineup.

I'm ok if they don't bring him back, but I think this is just a tad bit dismissive based upon a player coming back from injury.  Were you calling to get rid of KG when he was struggling to get back from his knee injury?

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

I wouldn't go as far to call him a liability, but to be honest, I'd take Bradley's defense over Ray's offense for the starting line up.

Bradley's Offense > Ray's Defense
I like Marcus Smart

Ewp,

I don't base this opinion solely on Ray's post-injury play in the playoffs.  I base it on his regular season play, which was markedly decreased from previous years.  Ray will want 6+ million per year and he is NOT worth it at his age and with his ankle issues.

I know this is difficult for many to digest, but it is factual.

I love Andre Miller.

Seriously, love the guy. He's so solid, and once and a while takes over a game, and NOBODY talks about him. NOBODY.

However I don't see his value on next years team. This is the last run for the Big 3. Andre Miller would have been great the last few years, but next year? Makes no sense.
