With Amare's injuries and the more restrictive cap/tougher tax, I have a hard time seeing that contract moved for anything but another big sketchy contract.  Something like the Arenas for Lewis deal.

Exactly.  Amare has the worst contract in basketball.  You don't take it period, but especially with the tougher upcoming salary cap...

Is Ryan Anderson and Hedo Turkglu really that much better than Bass, Allen, and Moore?  Now I realize your trade the Knicks aren't giving up any other pieces, but Hedo is essentially worthless and Anderson may just be a one year wonder and a product of playing next to Dwight (I mean Anderson was pretty bad in the playoffs with Dwight down low to cover his short comings).

Ryan Anderson and Turk are probably equal to Ray Bass and Moore, with Anderson getting the bump due to age. My point was that unless bass and ray are each signed for 9mill the cap numbers wouldn't work out in trading them for amare and would NY really want to be paying each of them that much when Ray is well past his prime and Bass has reached his and is at best a 12pt 7 rb guy?
Ignoring contracts, all that matters is that Anderson is the best asset in the deal while Moore is insignificant, Bass is easily replaced, and Allen doesn't have much of a future.

Fortunately, Hedo will be in the last year of his contract next year. Still, 12m is a lot to waste on Hedo.

I guess I have doubts as to how good Anderson really is.  He was terrible in the playoffs and down the stretch without Dwight in the middle and this is the same guy that was coming off the bench behind Brandon Bass last year.

if the only reason the Knicks do this is to dump Amare for cap space then they can just amnesty him. sure it costs them $60 million but it gives them cap space and takes away the luxury tax

Already used their amnesty clause on Chauncey Billups. They can't use it again.

Poorly run organizations have used the Amnesty clause in some silly ways.

Picking up Chauncey's option was a big mistake, with it they could amnesty Amar'e and move on. The warriors made a similar mistake with their decision to use it to try to get Jordan.

Hell to the no at taking on Landry Fields. That guy is a bona fide bum in every sense of the word. I've rarely seen a player with more bad judgment, and who chokes in what are seemingly easy play situations.

This guy singlehandedly screwed any chance the Knicks had in that first round series of sneaking out at least 2 games. They were on easy fast break opportunities, where the Knicks had the overwhelming advantage, and this guy threw the silliest passes I've ever witnessed. Not only that, this guy is just useless. It's like he literally can't hit anything at all, not even mid-range jumpers. The Celtics taking someone like him on would be an utter disaster of epic proportions. Hell no to Landry Fields.

There were times when the knicks had a decent lead, and everytime they got a good defensive stop, and it was time to pad that advantage on an easy fast break play, know who messed up 90% of those chances? You guessed it. Landry Fields. If I were the Knicks I would get rid of him for a new player. He's not what this Knicks team needs. The best he has played was when Lin was in the lineup.

The most irritating thing about this thread, is that the OP thinks Avery Bradley is starting of Shumpert.. LOL

You mean the Shumpert that tore his ACL and is out at least 6 months and probably double that to get back to full health (if ever).  There is a reason I had Bradley starting and not Shumpert, that pesky little knee injury.

I doubt it.
