Man, that kid outplayed the Lakers' bigs tonight.

This is the kind of McGee the I want to play for the Celtics. I believe the change of scenery, coming in from a very young squad to a solid veteran laden team, and new coaching changed the way he played. He's played solid on his first playoff appearance. Still pretty inconsistent but there are flashes of quality production, especially just last night where he was more productive than Bynum was for the Lakers.

He's a free agent right? What's you thought about the Celtics considering him as our answer for a defensive, rebounding big? I mean, sure his BBIQ is still suspect. But it shows that with the proper leadership and proper coaching he could be a starter who the Celtics can rely on for rebounds and interior defense in the future.

Is this a crazy idea? Because in my opinion, i think I'd be going crazy.

I'd love to see him alongside Garnett.

KG's skill-set would be a perfect complement to McGee's and a great mentor to him as McGee continues to try to develop into an All-League level defender / rebounder.

Massive risk though ... considering the amount of money it'd take to get him out of Denver. A max contract or close to it. The money makes me hesitate in a big way. Unsure.

Just too risky for anywhere near max money. His upside is huge, but his basketball IQ is horrendous and there's clearly maturity issues. I could easily see it being one of those contracts that teams regret almost immediately, much like Nene this year.

well of course not for the max money. If we're talking 7-8 mil a year, wouldn't that be a fair offer?

He's definitely worth the chance for that type of money, but I'd be shocked if that's the best anyone is going to offer him. Even mediocre centers are routinely vastly overpaid in the NBA, a center with his potential is going to command quite a bit.

I have been a fan of Mcgee for awhile now. Yes his BBIQ is low....... very low atm, but i think and believe a veteran team and a coach that has the respect of his playing squad will get the best out of him and he can flourish into a very solid big man.

Yeah very true. Did not even realized it for a minute. Is he worth the risk for say 10-11 mil. though.

Yes the dude needs to learn more from the game of basketball. But a lot is considering his rebounding and defense as top tier level. He's slowly learning. He's a different kid back from Washington where he just wants the ball and shoo hook shots. He looks like he's willing to listen to vets, coaches etc.

Call it crazy, but I think he's worth around 9-11 million a year. With the coaches that we have and the veteran leadership that would surround him. A good passer in Rondo which will utilize his athleticism and his presence in the paint (he has pretty decent hands under), call it crazy but I say he's worth that. But no more. I believe 12 million is overpaying, maybe 11 as well (but I'd give him a shot for 11 for him)

One good game does not make up for the usual at least 3 bone-headed plays he continuously makes a game.

I would rather stick with a low cost alternative like Ryan Hollins, whose quickness and athletic ability complement Garnett really well.  I think a full training camp with KG will bring out a much better player next year.

This way we can save our money for a franchise center.  KG is probably going to be around for a couple more years and Hollins is only 27 and Steimsma is about 26.  Thos two guys are solid stop-gaps until something better than McGee comes along.
