Yep; making the Celtics look mighty stupid right now.

Best of luck to Ray in the future.

Again, all of this Ray leaving talk makes some sense when you don't look at specifics, but when you do, the whole landscape changes.

1) Who is actually going to pay Ray?  Contenders would love him, but they are all over the cap.  The best I see him getting is the MLE, which isn't what is used to be.  If that is the case, 1-2 year deal from the Celtics could easily top that money without breaking the bank.

2) I wouldn't be shocked to see Danny offer KG a 2 year extension to expire when PP does. If that is the case, going 2 more years for Ray shouldn't be an issue.

3) Maybe a sign and trade could work, but it Danny couldn't get what he perceived to be fair value for Ray this past trade deadline, what makes any of us think he can with Ray this summer?

  • You say when......
Dallas, yes, knicks, yes, 76'ers, yes...doubt he would start in memphis, too many who are like Ray, but younger....better D.....the X factor will be HOW MUCH $$$ will Ray take....he IS insulted now..but it isn't totally justified....if he went somewhere and had to start for a FULL year, with tough D assignments, and big O expectations..there will be problems, and injuries. He could be a great 6th man for many years to come...but as a starter, he will be unhappy in a long season, or someone will be unhappy. It IS a sport/business.

Nope, if we would have traded him, that would have been fine.  Telling him he was traded, then not doing so, and letting him walk for nothing on the other hand is downright incompetence.

What's the difference between this situation and Rondo's situation with the Chris Paul one? Rondo didn't get a call that he was traded from Doc but Ainge and everyone else completely admitted that they tried to trade Rondo.

Is Doc calling him saying he was traded that much of a difference than if Doc admitted after the trade deadline that they tried to trade Ray?

Can you tell me a difference?

I see what youre saying but rondo's contract wasn't up...what was he going to do, demand a trade like Odom?  Additionally, Ray was told that he HAD been traded, not that he was being shopped - those really other two different things.  Plus this was immediately followed up by him being benched.

I don't see how Ray could possibly be seeing Boston in a positive light right now.
