Is he still a possible buyout/pickup guy for us?

All recent reports have indicated that he will not be bought out.

The Hornets GM said they were interested in keeping him around.  He might be of use in a sign & trade.

Ugh...that stinks.  I really think that if we could get our hands on him that we could make a run.  Without a GOOD center - we are screwed.... and there are no other good centers out there.

If both KG and Ray want to stick around a couple more years at reasonable prices, you'd think NO would be the perfect trading partner for Boston.  Give them one of our firsts this year for Okafor or a resigned for 2 years Kaman, resign Ray and KG for 2 years and hopefully both Bass and Green.  That would set up a situation where Boston would have Pierce, Ray, KG and Okafor or Kaman all expiring in the same year.

Ugh.  Two year deals and give up a pick?  I'm open to a one-year redux experiment provided we keep our picks (or trade them for a youngish impact player), but that's too much sacrifice for too sketchy a prospect of contention.

They want to resign him that's been their plan all along...

Either Kaman or Okafor are better than Perkins.  Unless you think there's going to be a better center than that in the late teens or early 20s, there's no superior deal to be made.  That's if KG and Ray are sticking around, of course.  If they're not, there's no reason at all to do it.

How about a sign and trade this summer centered around Brandon Bass and Chris Kaman?

Bass is from NO, and played college ball at LSU. Also was drafted and played for NO previously. He would be returning home a far better player than when he left. He would most likely be a starter there for a long time. We could also send other assets attractive to NO in the deal.

Bring back KG and Ray on smaller team friendly deals w/ Kaman and you have yourself a great starting 5 with Jeff Green coming off the bench.
