Great to see Clifford back in the league. Hopefully he can serve as a much needed mentor to Cousins.

Also, looking at the untapped potential of the "bigs" on Sacramento's roster, I think this is a good hire

Quote
The Kings have hired Clifford Ray to work with the team's big men.

Ray began coaching with the Mavericks in 1987 and was most recently an assistant with Boston from 2006 until 2010.

"He just has a way of talking and communicating with bigs who perform like a five-man," Keith Smart said.

"I've seen all the guys that I've had, big guys that he's worked with, how they developed and developed mentally, how they developed to understand the game from the five position," Smart said. "That's really good teaching that our guys need to understand."

"      “I can make a trade every day if I want to, but that's not going to help us. A trade that would get us better rarely comes along. They're very difficult to find. Good trades are very difficult in our league and don't happen very often.”

Clifford Ray seemed great for us here. Didn't really hear much about why he left/wasn't asked back.

Now the big, astute fella has landed in SacTown.

Why them and not us? Can't help but think that he would've aided Semih and Kristic last year and JJJ/Wilcox/Bass this year.

Good luck to Clifford Ray and congrats Sac..

Excellent news

Delighted to see Clifford Ray back in the league and delighted D.Cousins finally has a big man teacher who will show him how play fundamentally sound defense. Ray could also be really good for Jason Thompson.

Oh, and Hassan Whiteside, perhaps the biggest beneficiary of them all. Horrid fundamentals. Excellent athleticism and raw talent. A top big man coach could change H.Whiteside's entire career.

Politics.  When they brought in Lawrence Frank, part of the deal was that he got to bring on one of his guys.  His choice was his big man coach, so Clifford Ray was the odd man out.

Its too bad, but that is how the business works.  I am glad to see that he has found a new gig though.

Sure could help us get JJJ ready for the next season. I'm unhappy to see that instead of trying to replicate the 2007/08 season, we're slowly getting rid of everyone involved. Get Doc to unexpectedly quit, too, while at it. Fire Zarren, don't offer contracts to KG and Ray, trade Rondo for Kwame!

This rite here Cousins can get some more discipline on his game and average over 20 ppg easily wit Clifford Ray there

Okay, I'm ready for the C's to trade and get them here as a package--Cousins to play and Ray to coach.
