First, let me say this is not a legitimate rumor, its merely an idea John Hollinger floated out there, but I thought it was too funny not to share.

Quote from: ESPN Rumors
"So it's Pau or bust. Bryant may not like it, but the Lakers would be fools not to keep their options open. Trading Pau is the only potential way they could fill several roster holes at once, and while it normally doesn't make sense to trade a blue chip for several red ones, the numbers make a lot more sense when you have the league's worst roster 4 through 12. It's not hard coming up with dance partners, that's for sure. Send him to Houston for Luis Scola, Goran Dragic, Marcus Morris and Chase Budinger, and the Lakers suddenly fill four rotation spots with one deal while saving several million on luxury tax; deal him to Indiana for David West, George Hill and Dahntay Jones and you accomplish a similar feat. These aren't the only possibilities; one can build similar trades with several other teams, ones that don't bring back a talent on Gasol's level but plug so many gaps that it may be worth it anyway."

Doooo it, LA! Trade Gasol for 3 'kinda good' players! Do it!

Bring it full circle!

Hollinger's right, here...Laker's can't possibly NOT trade someone..and Pau is looking like the only big chip.

Nope, but that wasn't my point. My point was that the Lakers are going to trade the what..5th? 6th? best PF in basketball for a substantially less talented package.

EDIT: *POSSIBLY* going to trade. That's far from a certainty, and is barely a probability.

They already traded one of the best 6th men in the league.
