Cousy has forgot more about basketball than you ever known bud.

Ooooohk? Cousy himself admits he's out of the loop. Last time he was with Mike and Tommy he didn't know half the player's names.

Forgive me if I don't value his opinion on our current situation.

He may be out of the loop, but whenever I've heard Bob Cousy talk basketball, he always sounds really astute and smart about the game.

this.

I miss Cousy on the broadcasts.  He used to provide a less-biased, more straightforward appraisal of the game than Tommy.

I used to love Cous, in the bad years, saying "Ugh. I don't like the lineup that's on the court at all".

MJ is the greatest player to ever live.  But as we have seen, that doesn't make you an expert on assembling a team.

Just sayin'.

Larry Bird was a better player. He's also better at assembling teams than MJ.

true. TP

And Cousy was a special player, he defined the PG position, and is a Celtic Legend. I like what he's saying. Hopefully Rondo uses all this praise to show on the court he really belongs to the Celtic tradition.

Cousy is pretty good at calling what he sees in front of him, but I don't think he follows enough anymore to come to any conclusions.

I don't think he's sat through many of those Bad Rondo games or been as embarassed as some others by Kobe not guarding him.

Or he just loves the passing and vision that much, but I don't know if he fully appreciates the current cap rules and superstar GMing.  There could be better value out there by flipping Rondo for a package that might give a better chance at winning.

Would we be better off with Rondo for the next two years, or the same amoung of money split between Felton and GWallace if you know that KG will each stick around for a 2yr/$5M deal of they can contend?  Do they have a better chance with Felton opening up the half court and GWallace taking on the defensive load on the wing?  The cap is a main factor that affects relative value here, and I don't think Cooz fully appreciates that fact of the modern league.

So I guess I don't put much stock in Cooz' roster advice these days.

Felton's not a great shooter and the *slight* opening up in the half court will be swamped by how inferior his passing and playmaking is to Rondo's. Rondo can take over games, Wallace and Felton can't. If the Celts don't have Rondo or his replacement playing at a high level they can't contend, Wallace and Felton won't fill that bill.

Gerald Wallace makes roughly what Rondo makes.  It won't be possible to split Rondo's $11million between Wallace and Felton.

Maybe you should check with Bob Cousy on some of the current salary situations.
