Hard to tell players complete game in Star games, but these four guys caught my eye. Unfortunately none in a big!

Blake Ahern: short, slow, white guy---imagine a Rondo without the quickness, speed and hops. Same ballhandling skills. Now picture Rondo as one of the best shooters in pro ball.  Automatic on free throws and 3's! Made 110 consecutive free throws this season!!!

Moses Ehambe and Jameson Curry! Just lights out shooters. G/F type players.

And, of course the MVP--Gerald Green---he was really spectacular in the second half(that's all I watched)!

I would release Dooling, Sasha, and Daniels at the least and sign these guys.  They've got to be better than what we've been getting. Can't be worse.  Worth a try if we don't want to blow things up completely.

On another D league note, Jeff Foote looked horrible. No upgrade over Steimer!

How often do D-Leaguers really make a difference?

I can see Keyon, Sasha, or 'Quis coming up with a huge play down the stretch much more than any DLeaguer.

You could probably scrape together a decent bench with former D-League All-Stars who spent time in the Deuce League without being assigned there by an NBA clubs.  (Some of these names were in the D-League, signed by an NBA team, and then sent back to the D-League at some point.)

If you had Chris Johnson, Louis Amundson, Anthony Tolliver, Reggie Williams, Von Wafer, Sundiata Gaines, and C.J. Watson, it probably wouldn't be the worst bench in the NBA.

Oh, yeah, the D-League Showcase is an event where they bring all the teams to one location and play multiple games to show off for scouts.

Here's a list of the players named to the 2011 All-D-League Showcase teams.  Lin and Aldrich where the only NBA-assigned players among them, but I would guess all of them have a reasonable shot of being more useful as your typical NBA minimum salary journeyman.

2011 NBA D-League Showcase First Team:

Jeff Adrien, Rio Grande Valley Vipers
Joe Alexander, Texas Legends
Othyus Jeffers, Iowa Energy
Marcus Landry, Reno Bighorns
Jeremy Lin, Reno Bighorns

2011 NBA D-League Showcase Second Team:

Justin Dentmon, Texas Legends
Orien Greene, Utah Flash
Chris Johnson, Dakota Wizards
Jerel McNeal, Rio Grande Valley Vipers
Mustafa Shakur, Rio Grande Valley Vipers

2011 NBA D-League Showcase Third Team:

Cole Aldrich, Tulsa 66ers
Trey Johnson, Bakersfield Jam
Dar Tucker, New Mexico Thunderbirds
Latavious Williams, Tulsa 66ers
Sean Williams, Texas Legends

  • You say when......
What did perk have that steamer doesn't...? If the celts could just work the ball a few times to steam in the paint....THAT is what you do to get a team mate going.....He is worth it.....but the pg and sg need to keep in front of their man a bit more....steam can guard the paint pretty well, and if he scores a bit more, the refs will back off of him....! But then doc would have to play him....!
