Warning: Semi-delusional koolaid dream ahead:
Pao is one of the most underrated players in the NBA. Everybody loves to shower praise on Kobe but the Lakers were nothing until he showed up. If the Celtics can get him for Rondo, they have to do it.
Rondo's also an underrated player, he shoots efficiently, rebounds well, and creates turnovers. But bigs win over smalls in the NBA. Dirk/Chandler, Bynum/Gasol, KG/Perk, Duncan, Shaq, Russell. The list goes on and on. Plus, Rondo's offensive liabilities are too huge unless he plays with somebody like Durant who can bail him out or if he plays in a fast-break style.
But the key would be Howard. Would Pierce and Gasol be enough to bring him to Boston? If it were, I think that'd already be a title team. Look at what Howard's doing with an awful Magic team. Mark this down... if Howard leaves Orlando as a free agent, that team will turn into the Cavs after Lebron left.
Or maybe things could be even better if they amnestied Pierce and bought back KG and Ray at reduced salaries. Or maybe they could keep the big three if KG and Ray accepted veteran minimum salaries.
For the rest of the roster, wouldn't need much. With a frontline of Gasol/Howard, all they'd need would be defenders and spot shooters. And I seriously think this could happen. The big concern is would Howard rather play in LA with CP3 and Blake? That seems like the ideal choice but they're still owned by Donald Sterling.
