Might be best to trade Bass for a piece that offers more minutes. Split the minutes between Marion, Gortat and Odom (6th man) up front. Trade Bass for a backup PG. Maybe Ramon Sessions in Cleveland.

If Cleveland won't give up Varejao for expiring contracts + two first round picks, why would they give up Varejao + Sessions + Jamison for Garnett + two first rounders?

And if Cleveland would give up Varejao for expirings + two first rounders, wouldn't it better to keep KG and put Varejao alongside him? Oh my, KG + Pau + Varejao, wow!

Varejao and Sessions is not worth sacrificing Garnett and two first rounders for.

(1) I don't see Phily sacrificing Lou Williams just to move Brand for an old timer like KG.

(2) I can't see Dallas trading Marion for Ray

(3) I have no interest in trading Pierce for Kevin Martin. Martin is too flawed a player. You only pursue a player like Martin when the rest of your long term core is already in place. A finishing piece. Not someone you can build around. Too flawed.

All of these "sequences" are either unrealistic or unpalatable or both.  Moral of the story -- you can't really reload on the fly.
