I guess some of those who still wish we could get Rasheed here would be surprised to read this:

As for the Celtics, Boston had no interest in reuniting with Wallace when word spread that he was planning to make a comeback. And that lack of disinterest, CSNNE.com has learned, was mutual.

The C's didn't want him back and he didn't want to be back. Says a lot about how Sheed fit into the locker room and got along with Ray, KG, Pierce, Rondo, Doc and Danny, if you ask me.

This is just untrue, because Sheed had already said
months ago that he wanted to be a Celtic again, he
even begged to tryout and showed up at practices.

Tell that to A Sherrod Blakely who is reporting that it is. If you have some other report that you can link to to substantiate you claim I would love to read it.

I imagine Sheed wanted to play for a title contender.

And had no interest in Boston because they aren't one.

Anybody think this means LA is willing to give up both Pau and Bynum for Dwight, and that is the reason why they got Sheed?

No -- Sheed is too limited (read: irrelevant) at this stage of his career for his signing to be a factor in any deal of that magnitude.

what happens whith his salary? are the c's still paying him?
I think we bought him out

I think we are wtill paying him about $400,000 (against the cap) this year and next as conditions of the buyout...I hope his signing invalidates that.

I'm not saying Sheed will be the missing piece for them going forward or anything like that, what I'm saying is signing him just as a big to fall back on if even just for the year in that they are willing let go both of there twin towers for D12

Bingo.

I'm sure Sheed had shown interest before the season started, but it wouldn't make sense for him to join up with us now.

Ditto for the Celtics picking him up now.  If the Celtics were a top team that just needed some extra depth and experience on the bench, Sheed would be a nice pickup.  As it is, they need Sheed circa '02.
