Kevin Garnett isn't the best Celtics player at this point in his career, but I still think he's their most valuable.

Tonight's game is one of the most lethargic performances I've seen from the Celtics in years.  There's really just no energy out there.  Notice, Kevin Garnett, dealing with personal issues, isn't with the team.

Of course, not having Rondo is hurting - he kept them afloat against the Bulls without KG.

But watching the lack of passion and defensive energy is really just disturbing.  I know Kevin Garnett isn't what he once was, but the Celtics are just so much better with him in the line-up.

It's going to be a sad, sad day when he leaves or retires.  He just brings an irreplaceable mentality to the Celtics.  Anyone else think he's the most valuable player (not necessarily the best) on the Celtics at this point?

TP...
I was thinking the exact same thing after these last two games.

Of course he is not as good as he was when he was younger, but, we are playing some very uninspiring basketball at the moment.  We have had patches like this with KG on the court, but, not with our backs against the wall, whenever we played badly, you just knew a team with a healthy KG would always bounce back.  Besides the start of this season as I am convinced he was out of shape.

I do not look forward to the day he leaves Boston.

On a per minutes basis, easily. His defensive impact alone is much vaster than any single player offensive's contributions.

Nope. I don't think KG has been an MVP caliber player since 2008. Hate to say but my love for KG has gone downhill. Not like that's much a loss for anyone.

Great game tonight by the Celtics  :(

  • Rondo = Good
The Celtics are legitimately awful without him, so yeah.

It doesn't say much about a team when it's not playing well because of one player being out.

Our MVP is Pierce and he's been playing like crap.

When Pierce was playing like the player of the week we were nearly undefeated for 2 weeks.

Since then, we've almost gone winless...save for Rondo's huge triple double game.

I think Pierce is still our best player, but I think KG is just one of those guys who makes everyone around him better, despite his declining athleticism.

And those two weeks where the Celtics nearly went undefeated - KG was certainly playing his most inspired basketball, at least defensively, that he has this season.

Without KG, what little rebounding , and tuffness is completely missing.

I want KG to stay , but in a limited role.

KG is a never say never type of guy ....he always brings everything he has, even if his skills are waning.

He always gets a A+ for effort even if the result is bad.
