and the point of this trade is what?

we then have 2 starting PGs and a C/F that doesn't defend.  We no longer have our starting SG or SF and no one off the bench that would be a good replacement for those spots.  Not to mention it messes our cap for next year.

also, why would Utah touch this deal?

Utah is a good trade partner for us.

They have youth, picks and two players of value (AlJeff and Harris) who both expire next year which keeps our cap flexibility for this year and next at least and longer if DA gets creative.

Utah only thinks about this tradeif we include Rondo.

Sustitute Rondo for Ray, and we have a potential deal. They will need to include at least one of their 1st rounders (either their own or the Warriors')or both if we are giving up both PP and Rondo.

Utah has talked of moving both AlJeff and Harris. Let's accommodate them!

So we would do this deal to eliminate our cap space for this offseason...and trade Ray Allen/PP all for a big who cannot play defense? How is that working for the Knicks these days? What is the obsession with bringing back Big Al?

good points i would consider giving up rondo if they gave us the higher of their two picks.

By including Rondo instead of Ray, we still have KG/Ray expiring this year and AlJeff and Harris expiring next year. That's way more cap flexubility for two consecutive years.

We stll get youth in this trade (Hayward/Burks) as well as a walking double-double in AlJeff and a pg in Harris who can shoot, neither of which we have and desperately need. KG will get AlJefff to play D, and at the very least Al can REBOUND.

We also have them throw in one of their two 1st round picks and draft a true pg.

TP to the OP.

So KG will get AL to play defense? That's quite a leap of faith when Clifford Ray couldn't even get him to do that. Hayward and Burks will be end of the rotation players, I don't see how this helps the Celtics. We trade our starting small forward and either or starting point guard or shooting guard for a downgrade everywhere but center. Basically you would be running the entire offense through Big Al.

I do agree the Jazz would be good trading partners but if you're going to deal them Rondo you better get a package including Favors or else just stick with the status quo.

Would also love to have Favors or Kantner, but they won't give us either.

I don't disagree with you so much about Big Al's D, but he does rebound, both defensively and offensively, which we desperately need. Just by virtue of his rebounding, which is very solid, he will lessen our opponents second chance points, and at least ahve an impact defensively, that way.

Offensively, a five of Big AL, KG, Pietrus, Ray and Harris is pretty strong. Al works inside, Kg midrange, the other 3 will be tough to cover. Wilcox, Bass, Hayward, Burks and Bradley off the bench. I like it.

Plus the pick to draft a pg (there are 4 or 5 of them who would be good picks) plus the cap flexibility for two consecutive years.
