I take it you missed the game? We kept shoving Barnes after he got offensive rebounds and the Celtics made a commitment to not driving to the lane tonight. No fix was in.

i watched the game, stern's a great story teller just like vince

pretty amazing defensive job by the lakers hold a team to under 40% shooting and only commit what 3 shooting fouls, wow, even their sub smallish power forward draws more shooting fouls in 17 mninutes than the entire celtics roster in 53 minutes, but hey all hail matt "bill russell" barnes.

Apparently you missed the part where the Celtics were taking jump shots all night.

Stern's a joke, but the C's lack of FTA was 100% due to the game they were playing - all jump shots, no post game whatsoever, not even a lot of driving to the rim.  We're a jumpshooting team, which can look great when the shots are falling and terrible when they aren't.  Makes me nervous for the playoffs, when the games get more physical and grinding.

The lack of a real inside presence is so glaring.  KG's not the answer to play the 5, that's becoming obvious.  JO would be decent as a defensive-minded backup, but has no business starting.  Bass is a great 6th man, but for all of his strengths, there are still core weaknesses as well (not a great rebounder, not much inside game).

Makes me wonder about that Rondo-Pau rumor - might be easier to find someone to run the point/run the offense through Pierce, but have a legit inside scorer/rebounder.

Gasol is very, very good. But I don't think that building around him and Pierce is the answer for next season.

Yeah, did any player on the team drive to the hoop at all other than Rondo?  I can't remember even one drive by Pierce.

It wouldn't be a rebuild - it would be one last gasp for glory.  That's why I'm not sure if I'd do it; we'd probably be a better team this season, but we'd basically be blowing all of our cap space.

I do think that Pierce has at least a couple more good seasons left in him, as does Pau (Pau will be playing a lot longer than KG will).  Assume you resign Ray Allen and he stays productive for a couple more seasons.  Would the team be able to acquire a decent point guard?  That's what I'm not sure sure about.  Would that team have enough left to be a legit contender?
