Honestly I haven't been impressed with his coaching/GM jobs the last ten years or so. I think he did okay in Dallas, but that team had the talent to do better.

But he didnt' make the HoF based on those years.

Good for Nellie. A bit overdue, IMO.

Any news on who else made the HOF?  I know they're supposed to make an announcement at the Final Four.

I know he's going in as a coach and we aren't supposed to factor his playing career into his candidacy, but any thoughts on him as a player?

I saw him play just once or twice (on old footage) and the only thing I can remember is that his free throw technique reminded me of a little girl throwing a paper dart!

Congrats Nellie, he knows his stuff.

His worst year was with the Mavericks in 97 with a 16-50 record, he stayed with the team and they improved every year until 5 years later when they won 60 and were in the Western Conference Finals.

Legendary status, and a major branch of the Auerbach coaching tree.

Much deserved. Made a fantastic contribution to the game of basketball over his lifetime as an NBA Coach, GM and player. Very happy to see him honoured by the HoF.
