I came up with a entertaining idea IF Danny Ainge wants the Celtics to get younger. Since everybody else is doing it, here's a trade scenario where we trade Pierce to Hawks and get Smith back from them. We also trade Allen to Grizzlies for Gay and Mayo goes to Hawks and Williams to Grizzlies. It works on the trade machine so do you think it's a fair trade?

This is very unlikely but maybe trying to shop O'Neal and Garnett to Wizards. Only way we get McGee is if we take Lewis bad contract.

I know as well as you all that it most likely won't happen but it would give up a line up of Rondo, Pietrus, Gay, Smith, and McGee. Imagine all the alley-ops and be able to contend with Heat and Bulls.

  • Rondo = Good
We'd be lucky to get one of those guys, let alone all 3.

I know I'm just joining everybody else who is in dream world. Of course we would have to give up Rondo but it's fun thinking of having all of them playing together.

How about this wild one...

A re-signed (healthy?) Green would give us arguably the most athletic starting lineup, if not team, in the NBA.

Smith
Green
McGee
Rondo
Gay

We must think alike...

Cool. Still that trade is MORE unlikely that we get Gay, Smith, McGee, and Lewis and Grizzlies get Pierce only, Hawks get Ray Allen only, and Wizards get Garnett and Moore?

But, yeah we do think alike just have to give more reason for the other teams to do it.

We pull that off we'd be a nice little 32-42 win team.

I left out Green because he might be our 6th man of the year if he decides to come back.

Yeah there's really no way we can pull this off but it's nice thinking about it.

That's only 74 games.  ???

You really think that a team that featured Rondo, Smith, Gay, and McGee would be 10 games under 500?  For comparison, Atlanta is 12-5 and their best players are Smith, JJ, and Horford. Don't you think that Rondo, Gay, and McGee are better than Teague, Johnson, and Horford?

I'm saying they'd win between 32-42 games every year.  In other words... they'd be irrelevant and overpaid.

Yeah, it's a very athletic squad, but that team would seriously lack shooting, and they'd be awful at free throws.

They'd also get dominated inside by bigger centers.
