I can't see Roy Hibbert ever being a top five center. Too slow.
maybe so, but i'd take him on this team in a heartbeat...
this isn't the 80's... there aren't many centers, and hibbert (though slow afoot) is a top center in the nba today.
the man averaged 12 and 7 last season 14 and 9 so far this season i would take a chance if i was danny
How much are you willing to pay Hibbert?
what's the right price to you? i would give him 45M but luckily i'm not a GM lol
I wouldn't pursue Hibbert though until the Celtics had a better foundation in place.
I view Hibbert is more of a finishing piece than a building block. A fourth best player on a top team kind of talent ... which I think he is on Indiana, their fourth best player, who are not currently a contender but could grow into one depending on P.George's development.
I don't want the Celtics to end up in a place where they have so much money tied up in good but not elite players that they are unable to bring in that elite talent down the road. I'd rather see them take a more patient approach if that elite talent is not available this summer (which appears to be the case).
In terms of money, I rate Hibbert as a top 20 center who is quickly growing into a top 15 center. A top 15 center would usually command about $10 million per annum (so $40mil over 4 years). Since Hibbert is a restricted free agent who Indiana value highly, you'd have to over-pay him to get him out of there. Probably $50-55 million over 4 years. That would be my ball-park estimate.
