I watched a D-League game involving the L.A. Defenders & couldn't help myself from posting how awesome Gerald Green looked. 13-17 fg 4-5 from 3pt. Range & 4-4 Ft's for 34pts. He dominated the game & took over it completly. Basing our team & how inadequate we are offensively why wouldn't we take a flyer on some offense who can score from anywhere on the floor. I just feel as though it couldn't hurt. Pierce is struggling, and he could fill in for Ray & Pierce when needed.

It's great how dleague.com & NBA TV is giving these 2nd chance players more exposure. I was delighted to see Gerald balling & hear his postgame interview.

His problem is that it's a team game.  Other than that...oh, wait.  There's also both offense and defense.  So he has two problems:  he doesn't defend well and doesn't play team ball well.

Other than that...

This sounds like 60% of the league so he fits in. Amare Stoudemire (Superstar) received 2 max contracts playing the way you described.

All true, but count their rings...combined...

Heck, for a 15th spot, though, I'd try about anybody.  Not sure who/if I'd cut anybody to make room for another GG experiment, though.

Especially if all he's showing is on the offensive end, and in the D-league, where we'd probably all agree he could and should average gaudy offensive numbers.

I agree his defense leaves something to be desired. But I don't remember Vinnie "microwave" Johnson being brought in for defense. We could use offensive punch! And when we are struggling for offense & Pierce looks sleepy & lethargic we can bring Gerard in. If no offense is needed he can get a DNP coaches decision, he is good enough to be on the roster I believe.

OP did u see him in the preseason with the Lakers?? he looked terrible airballing 3's no defense nd he could barely dribble he prolly would be better suited as a D League superstar like Morris Almond who scored 51 points in a D League game what roster is he on now??

I only go off what my eyes see now. Not 6-7 minutes of squeezed preseason minutes with the Lakers. He dribbled, pulled up, spotted up, came off screens etc. And he did a great job yesterday. He also had 40plus games recently in China which made L.A. take a look in the 1st place. So give the kid a break, he working on his game & trying to harness his craft into a quality NBA reserve. He scored these points from the bench in China & D-league so he is used to having to get going & acclimated immediately which is a great trait. Because that's what he would be asked in the league or this team. I do see improvement in attitude & hopefully work ethic is improving in the process. He is obviously talented!

The truth is I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Gerald Green, but the other truth is that he's been trying to get back to the league and stick for--what--3 or 4 years now, and he hasn't been able to do it.

I'd love to see somebody give him a chance, but right now I'm not interested in cutting anyone off our roster to take that gamble.
