Mike Gorman on the Sports Hub earlier said he spoke to Doc and that we should be seeing Steimsma and Johnson tonight as he tries to give a breather to the big guys. Might see Moore as well he said.

I'm not comfortable with Steimsma or Johnson on Kaman or Landry.  Maybe Okafor.  Jason Smith, sure.

Keep KG/Bass on Landry and JO on Kaman.

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari

What's the harm of seeing a couple of minutes of Stiemer on Kaman?  Would be a great barometer of where he is against a certain type of center.

If we're forcing the tempo I'm perfectly fine with JJJ covering either of those guys for short stints. He is more agile than both and should be able to beat them to the spot.

This isn't the preseason.  We're trying to win games.

Letting Kaman score 6 or 8 easy points on a rook is a recipe for losing close games.

Yes.  KG and Ray have played wayyyyy too many minutes.

We got some people who think our bench has played too little, and others who think too much. Someone else just said Steimsma and JJJ playing tonight isn't even a good idea.

That tells me that Doc's probably doing ok.

Starters will play more against the better competition. Bench guys will play more when we are playing lesser competition, especially the young guys, because there is less pressure on them.

We can't expect every game to be exactly the average. I'm surprised Ray didn't play even more with Pierce out.

It should be easier to go to the bench more when Pierce and Pietrus are healthy.  Then we won't have to play the starters more to make up for the likes of Avery Bradley and Sasha Pavlovic.

Cool, looking forward to seeing them. Especially JaJuan Johnson.

Me too.  Based on what I have seen of Johnson, I don't expect a lot from him yet (I think he is still very early in learning the system), but I think this will be a good test for Steimsma.  We need to learn at some point whether he can defend guys like Kaman (because IMO, that is why they have him here), so there is no time like the present to throw him in the deep end.

Agreed -- they need to find out whether Steimsma can give them what they need from their third string center or whether they need to waive Steimsma and sign one of the available free agents to fill the void (like Eric Dampier).

This New Orleans Hornets team with Emeka Okafor and Chris Kaman will offer the perfect proving ground for Steimsma. Great time for him to play.

Exactly.  And unlike Johnson, who is here for his future potential, Steimsma is on this team because they think he can help this year.  Now is the chance to find out.  It is essentially a preseason game, where the outcome counts.
