Not even a game into the season and 2 injuries. Wish them both luck. Our depth at the wing is now kind of like last year's center come to think of it, especially at the 2.

Marquis Daniels is obviously coming off the bench first. That leaves...Gilbert Brown and Sasha Pavlovic

There is somewhat of a history of unsigned players who turn out to be solid role players. The guy that comes to mind for me is Bruce Bowen. Gilbert Brown is athletic though and has already shown defensive know-how. He can play both the 2 and the 3 like Marquis Daniels and Pavlovic.

Place your bets: Reckon he can prove himself and get to Pavlovic status (3rd (and a half) string SG/SF) or beyond by the end of this season? Or would Pavlovic outshine him? Brown or Pavlovic?

I'm rooting for Gilbert Brown for sure. He's got the mentality Doc wants.

Celtics only have one roster spot remaining.. I believe Doc likes Greg S. a lot, so Brown might be out.

Really? :D Nice that he likes the big guy. Good sign there.

I hope Brown proves himself in the few games he'll have the chance to play. I'd rather have him then Pavlovic (of course).

I think we're more likely to see some small ball lineups with combinations of Rondo, Allen, Bradley, Dooling, & Daniels than Gilbert Brown getting any significant playing time. that is, as mentioned above, if he even makes the roster

I read it in one of doc's training camp interviews.. He may be this year's Semih.. As for Brown, I also like the kid , but you know Doc ain't playing him, especially that we have two other rookies and then Bradley. The back-up three will be Daniels then Pavlovic. See, you should be more excited for Moore or Avery cause the backup SG is up for grabs.

Brown can actually back both SG and SF but Moore is defs more proven at this point. (And dayum has Moore worked hard).

TP for the find. I liked Semih so that's pretty cool.

This really does suck were already bit with the injury bug too

I can already see the year playing out with injuries left and right and like last year that being our demise in the 1st or 2nd round.

I would play Brown ahead of Sasha too.   We know what we got in Sasha; nothing.

Right? I understand signing Pavlovic because we need a 3rd string SF not named Marquis Daniels who is slightly proven but you might as well give Brown a go, especially when it doesn't matter too much (at the beginning of the season). Pavlovic can shoot a little but Gilbert Brown can run and cut and finish, and even shoot a little.

Ideally, Brown can be stashed in the D-League as one of the last roster cuts and no other NBA team will grab him.  If the Celtics have an open roster spot in February, I'd probably prefer Brown over your typical veteran buyout guy.

The difference between waving a minimal contract such as Stiemsma and keeping a spot open isn't really that critical.
