I just read that the lakers is working out Troy Murphy.  Why not him for the 15th spot.  Look i know that experiment didnt work out but that was more because of injury.  The Lakers would only be able to pay him 1.4 million.  For that price I think he is worth another go round.  There isnt much better out there.

NJ seemed to think his legs were shot and he was done, nothing that I saw from his time with us makes me think they were wrong. I am suprised he hasn't caught on with another team by now....

No interest in a role player big man who cannot play defense.

Not what this team at this moment in time.

Chris Wilcox already taking up that slot for us?

While coaching staffs or management can sometimes fall in love with a player too much, when a team gets a look at a guy who plays a position of need and they don't even try to resign him, that usually says it all.  That the Cs are uninterested in Murphy but happy to have back 'Quis despite his injury history is enough for me.

Pretty much, yeah.

To expand on my first comment ... It's more Murphy's position (PF) and the position of the other big men in the team that hurts Murphy's value here.

There is an abundance of power forwards and a lack of interior defenders (centers, defensive anchor, rim deterrent). There are a couple of really good options there at the four with Garnett, Bass, Wilcox and JaJuan Johnson. However, there is a lack of alternatives behind J.O'Neal. Garnett is the only other player on the roster capable of anchoring a defense. Short on numbers.

If they wanted a player like Murphy, then they'd need to move Bass or Wilcox in exchange for a defensive five.

I think that we should give him another go.

A big man who can hit the three-ball and is decent at getting defensive rebounds is something that we can use, especially for the minimum.

I think that his defensive liabilities are outweighed by the 3 ball and the rebounds.

Low risk, decent reward.....good value.

Murphy never had a shot here.

Invite him to camp.  Lets see if more time off has allowed him to recover some of the game he had.

Would love to see Murph get another shot.  Just found this:

alanhahn Alan Hahn
#Knicks move on to next wave of FA targets, including three-point specialist vets Michael Redd and Troy Murphy. Mo Evans on list, too. #fb\

Troy Murphy would be good for New York. Work well with Tyson Chandler. Give them a useful floor spacer when they go small with Amare at center while Tyson rests. I like it.

Drop Steisma, and get Michael Redd. Rather have him working for back SG position instead of Dooling getting minutes there, and in case Moore doesn't pan out fast enough
Can't stop, Rondo!
