The New Orleans Hornets, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers are pushing toward completing the reconstructed framework of a trade that could make Chris Paul the Lakers point guard this weekend, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

After the NBA office furnished New Orleans general manager Dell Demps with fresh directives on the kind of deal it would take to get approval from the league, Demps re-engaged the Lakers and Rockets in talks early Friday afternoon that carried deep into the evening, sources said. The three teams agreed to reconvene Saturday morning and believed they were within striking distance of a deal Demps could take to the league for its blessing.

Several of the key deal elements remain the same of the version that Stern nixed Thursday, including Pau Gasol going to the Rockets and Lamar Odom to the Hornets. The NBA wants the Hornets to receive more young players and draft picks.

“We’re still working through it all,” one official with knowledge of the negotiations told Y! Sports.

I have a feeling the West sign and trade will actually end up part of this.

But no problem.  I kind of hope it gets done now...but Howard gets sent elsewhere.  If the Cs have West and the Lakers no longer have twin towers, I am fine with this trade.

to be honest, I thought about it and Im not too sure it makes the lakers much better...it may make them worse(at least for this season)

size wins in the nba, and you are giving up Alot of size getting rid of Pau Gasol/Odom...Bynums guaranteed to miss games...who plays center when hes out? odom used to take that role

then youve got 2 guys who essentially are the same player..CP3 and Kobe both need the ball in their hands to operate.

I'm okay with it *if* Howard isn't on his way.  Bynum/CP3 could be scary in the future, but I'll take my chances.  CP3/Howard, I want no part of.

If Lakers get Paul and Howard for Gasol, Bynum and Odom there is something wrong with this league.

Isnt it pretty much a formality that DH makes his way to lala land once CP is traded there though?

No.  Depending on what Orlando thinks of Lopez vs. Bynum, NJ could make a better offer for Howard.

Youd think Orlando might remember the Shaq trade and trade him to jersey or here to spite l.a. but i guess thats wishful thinking..

I know it will happen but... is Orlando that stupid? No way I'm giving them Howard after they got Shaq... dumbest move I have seen! I'd send him to NJ just for the hell of it! It's not as if I'd be sending him for nothing, I think the Nets have more to offer. Maybe this is one reason (besides money lol) I don't own a team, no way in hell I do this trade but who knows, busted knees may turn out to be the better deal than Brook and picks? Still wouldn't give them DH!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Boston isn't on the list.  But I think NJ is the front runner.

me too, that and I doubt Bynum will last a full season or two when Kobe retires, he's going to break something
