if perk's hands made you cringe, watching kwame try and field rondo's passes will give you turrets syndrome

Maybe he would catch Delonte's passes lol

This statement makes me sad but I don't think $3 MM will be enough for Kwame.

If we can get Marquis at the minnimum and he is healthy to start the season it will be a good deal. Even with his likely injuries he's still worth the minnimum.

perhaps we can put marquis' position with the celtics in some context to see whether he would help the team.

no one should doubt that his defense, team play, and passing fit very well with the celtics team. he did not score much, but then he wasnt supposed to do so. he did not let his ego take over and try to force shots.

the problem, as is pointed out here, is his injuries. he has had a number of them and it is a concern. he has averaged only about 55 games a season in his career, never playing in all 82 games.

but....

are we thinking that who ever the celtics have at roster spot 15 would be better than daniels? daniels playing in 55 games for the celtics is better than any of the 11-15 bench players the celtics would have.

basically, the player who would be cut would be the 15th man. i prefer daniels to who ever that would be.

as for kwame, i loath his game. all that talent and no passion or brains to go with it. but, he averaged 7.9 points and 6.8 rebounds last season in 26 minutes. as a back up center, that is very respectable.

by the way, for me, kwame is almost the anti-perk in that kwame has lots of talent but no passion. perk has lots of passion, but.....well, you get my point.

as players off the bench, both would be fine by me.

Fully recognizing Quis's injury history, I agree with whoever said that having Quis is better than having your usual 15th (or 14th or 13th) man. And I realize that Kwame has several glaring drawbacks (hands, anyone?), but 8 points and 7 rebounds a game is pretty darn good for a backup big, and I think we all need to remember just what position the Celtics are in: they are DESPERATE for backup bigs, especially for those who generally avoid injuries, and Kwame fits that bill. I don't know if I can take another season of terrible rebounding by this team.

Marquis Daniels is a lot like a smaller Jermaine O'Neal.  He's a talented player whose skill set fits well in the Celtics system if healthy, but that's a big IF.  Given the injury Daniels is coming off of, I feel more confident about JON's health.

If Daniels is on the bubble for the 15th spot, his competition would likely be E'Twuan Moore or this year's version of Tony Gaffney or Stephane Lasme.  In a shorter pre-season, his experience and familiarity with the system is a plus.

Marquis Daniels would have to be signed to an unguaranteed contract that makes him easy to cut in mid-season or even at the end of pre-season.

Excellent point. Good added-value to Marquis vs other minimum contract hopefuls.

We should have just kept Perkins  :-\

And paid him ten million a year for the next 4 to 5 years with his knee and shoulder issues?  Keeping in mind that signing him would have limited our ability to sign free agents next summer?  Nah, im just fine with our not holding onto perk.
