I think it's great the he *chose* not to go to the Lakers.  It sounds like Kobe being a prima donna played a huge part in that.
Kelly Dwyer has some serious BS that he couldn't have spiked a trade to the Lakers. No team was going to give up a large package for KG unless he agreed to an extension (voiding his opt out).

The ability to opt out gave him a virtual no trade clause.

Yeah, I mean the same thing happened with the Celtics, where KG essentially vetoed a trade before Danny acquired Ray Allen.  I mean, sure, technically the trade could have been rammed through, but it would have been way too risky for potentially a one year rental.

Dwyer does remind us that Odom/Bynum were once rumored to be involved in a potential JO trade, though.  Man, I wish that one had gone through.
