…………is FAN loyalty.

I know that I am stating the obvious, but sports is big business for the players and the owners. Very few, if any, players have loyalty to the franchise, hence no loyalty to their “team” nor to their fans, who ultimately pay their paycheck.
Pierce, Dirk, Duncan, and Kobe are the only guys that are still with their team right?  Even Big Z finally left.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Tayshaun Prince too, I think, so far, but that's only about 9-10 years, although by today's climate, that's an eternity.

Players should have no loyalties to franchises, that thought process is stupid.  These gaves have 15 years AT THE MOST to go make all the money they can to be set for the rest of their lives.

With that said, guys like Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Dirk Nowitzki, Kobe Bryant, and Tim Duncan have shown a great amount of loyalty to their franchises

Agreed. Guys seem to be willing to show loyalty to teams much more than teams are loyal to their players.  Also, simply judging from reading and participating in blogs like this one, and listening to local sports talk shows, I really don't see much loyalty from the fanbase towards the players.

Fans are generally completely willing to throw away players who have played hard for the team if they think it will improve the teams chances at a title. I'm not necessarily saying that's a bad thing, but it's a little hypocritical to ask the players to show more loyalty to the fans than the fans show towards the players.

So none of you have every changed employers before while still doing the same type of work?  Shame on you; where is your loyalty? <sarcasim for those who missed it>

Regarding fan loyalty, I would say I know more people who change their "favorite" team based on how they're doing vs those that stick with their franchise through the thick and thin.

Many of us on this board live in the New England area; how many Patriots supporters did you see in the 80's and early 90's?  Well you probably missed them because they were wearing 49ers, Cowboys, Bills hats and jerseys LOL.
